      • Function for correction for deflection due to Lorentz force in FDC
      • Charge-to-energy unit conversion for FDC cathode strips and CDC wires
    • Current "geometry" adjustments possible??

      • Possible rotations.

Minutes

Present: Curtis, Naomi, Beni, Eugene, Fernando, Tim, Lubomir, Simon, David L, Sean

  1. CDC Update
    1. We reviewed the CDC_travel_plans. CDC delivery is planned for Oct 29, or a day later if the weather is bad, either to the EEL building or to Hall D, depending on the time of arrival. Tim will make arrangements with shipping & receiving & security, and liaise with Gary re delivery.
    2. The CDC cart is 80" long x 53" wide.
    3. Beni can reuse the FDC's test stand for the CDC after the FDC has moved into Hall D. There are enough readout electronics and scintillators at JLab but Beni will need to make a support for a scintillator above the CDC.
    4. Beni will make a TOSP. (?)
    5. Naomi will send Beni her CODA readout files and trigger timing.
    6. Naomi will keep one flash, Beni's crate and one non-production cable for use at CMU with the prototype for readout testing.
    7. The CDC cooling should be installed before the electronics; in EEL the rings can be used with compressed air, in Hall D Tim will try using ducted air with a compressor as a last resort.
  2. FDC Update
    1. To get more space in EEL126 we started disconnecting the cables used for the full electronics test. Beni is still using some of them for the tests of the new F1TDCs.
    2. Casey is working on the installation of the skin between the packages.
    3. There will be a delay with the FDC cooling system in the Hall and the start day of the FDC cabling will depend on whether we can apply LV and test the signals without cooling the packages.
  3. Calibration
    1. David showed some snippets of reconstruction code where constants are hard-coded. There is some obsolete code to be cleared away.
    2. Simon described that the ideal wire & plane positions are stored in an XML database. His intention is to make provision so that calibration constants can be used as corrections to the database. He envisions using the same coordinate system for this, to avoid dealing with local coordinate systems and then possible rotations of those systems, etc.
    3. For the FDC, corrections would be rotation and offset of the planes. For the CDC, the position of both ends of each wire would be required. Plane stretching and wire sag might also be useful.
    4. Position corrections for the simulation would not be required unless there is a large difference between ideal and actual position.
