For the charged particle identification portion of the workshop we classified work in three broad categories.

Detector Response

We need to understand the response and functionality of the various PID devices.

  • BCAL TOF (Christina/Blake)
    • This is an overlap from day one. Preliminary results from Christina with cosmics from beam test indicate a timing resolution around 500 ps. We need to understand if these results are consistent with other test results and present an accurate picture of the expected time resolution.
  • Cherenkov backgrounds (Matt/Richard)
    • We need to use full detector MC to estimate the background rates in the Cherenkov detector to better understand its efficiency.
  • CDC dE/dx (CMU)
    • Tests with prototype chambers are needed validate the dE/dx capability of the CDC
