Ideas for Physics Projects:
(1) Goodness of fit in PWA
-- How does one evaluate a goodness of fit in a partial wave analysis? -- Performing studies using GlueX MC would prepare us for this question when it arises during data analysis. -- This paper by Mike Williams is a good starting point: http://arxiv.org/abs/1006.3019
(2) Beam polarization and PWA
-- How much analyzing power can we gain with precise polarization measurements? -- Are there physics channels that rely heavily on polarization? -- How do we incorporate the polarization uncertainty into the fits? -- Jake has done studies with 0 to 100% polarization in 3pi. This could be a place to start since the amplitudes are already written.
(3) PWA with multiple tagger hits
-- How do we handle multiple tagger hits when doing a PWA? Do we use a weighting scheme? -- Richard has some experience with this. Perhaps Igor could incorporate studies like this into his b1pi analysis?
(4) MC event generators
-- Do we need more development work on MC event generators? -- IUAmpTools does importance sampling on generated mass distributions -- could this be extended? -- Does pythia need any more tuning? -- etc.
