Action Items

  1. ChiPT calculation to one loop with Coulomb photon (Svetlana and Aleks)
  2. Follow-up contact with Marc to request paragraph (Rory)
  3. Provide relative yields for single pi0 production: Primakoff, NC, interference and IC. We can use these to scale 2pi0 yields (Ilya)

Tentative Agenda

  1. Announcements
  2. Action Items
  3. Feedback from collaboration review
  4. Theory update
  5. Experiment update
  6. Updates to collaboration draft
    1. Backgrounds to be simulated
    2. Table of cross sections (Rory and Ilya)
      • Single pi0 estimates (Ilya)
      • (From Ilya) I got a rough estimation for the effect of second pi0 absorption on cross-sections: for Primakoff ~7.5% and for Nuclear Coherent ~45%. That was done for 300MeV pi0pi0 mass. For the incoherent term, this estimation will require more calculations and most likely help of Sergey.
      • Scaling factors for CPP and NPP (Rory)
      • Include references to relevant data
      • Add values used in the proposal
    3. Experiment optimization
      • Target position (Beni).. not yet
      • Beam energy:
      • Generate angular distributions for some other targets to compare to Pb
    4. Significance of experiment
      • The expected uncertainties of the extracted gg->pi0pi0 cross section (Fig. 24 of proposal) need to be verified and studied more carefully
    5. Analysis of PRIMEX data
  7. Other business
  8. Next meeting

Minutes

Attending: Mark, Beni, Rory, Ilya, Elton, Alex, Jose

  1. Announcements
  2. Action Items
    • Rory sent an email to Marc.
    • Ilya computed the contributions to the pi0 Primakoff (see below)
  3. Feedback from collaboration review
    • Rory and Elton had a video conference with Matt to talk about the near-term schedule for CPP and NPP. We updated the group on discussions about NPP
    • Strict guidance of schedule and steps for collaboration endorsement require submitting a draft to the collaboration (with endorsement by the committee) by May 5.
    • We agreed that the review proceed expeditiously, and we promised to provide an updated draft addressing most of the committee issues by May 8. This should be in time for the committee to assess whether we have addressed their concerns before the collaboration meeting the week following.
    • Once the review committee endorses the proposal to the collaboration, we can outline a schedule for approval. The goal is to have that complete before the proposal is submitted to the PAC.
  4. Theory update
    • Ilya has been in contact with Serguei, who has promised to send formulas for calculating the production of f0(500). Ilya can code that up and show predictions.
    • [Out of order] Jose inquired about the diagrams contributing to the NC process. Ilya sent out a link to Sergey's PrimEx incoherent calculation
  5. Experiment update
  6. Updates to collaboration draft
    1. Backgrounds to be simulated
      • Background hits (Elton)
        • Elton has added random hits (from random triggers) to the analysis. Results are not affected. The change of the phase between the Primakoff and NC was studied, with consistency between the amplitude analyses.
      • BGGEN (PYTHIA)
      • eta production (Elton)
      • Incoherent production (Elton)
      • Npipi
        • Rory has made some scaling arguments to assess the relative strength of signal and background of NPP relative to single pi0 (PRIMEX)
        • NPP signal/ PRIMEX ~ 5.5, NPP background / PRIMEX ~ 0.06. Therefore estimates are encouraging for both signal and background.
    3. Experiment optimization
    4. Analysis of PRIMEX data
  7. Other business
    1. Updates to proposal draft and assignments
      • Suggestion: Describe Rory's scaling in an appendix. (Rory)
      • Magnitude of backgrounds: For the proposal use relative weights that we see for PRIMEX, which is conservative. Describe this in the text. (Elton and Mark)
      • Trigger rates: Expand the trigger discussion with expected rates (Ilya and Beni)
    2. Production (Mark)
      • NPP generation using MCWrapper and propagated through the AmpTools framework has been formalized. It has a standard software organization
      • The software is built in the standard way with public files and could be deployed on the grid.
      • The system could be used to process BGGEN MC samples, which is still on our task list.
  8. Next meeting
    • Beni suggested that we meet before next Friday. It was agreed to meet on Thursday (May 7) afternoon at 3 pm. That gives us a day to assess the updated draft before giving it to the review committee.
