General information

Weekly Meetings, 8:45am, Wednesdays, Hall D conference room. Held by the Run Coordinator. Present Run Coordinator: Alexandre Deur

To connect from the outside by phone please do the following

Specific instructions for connecting from JLab's Hall D conference room:

  • Turn polycon on if necessary (do it before turning the computer on)
  • With the polycon, place a call at 199.48.152.152
  • Press # to enable the polycom keypad, then enter the meeting id: 660743227 and #
  • You may have to unmute the microphone: #*4
  • Turn the computer on if needed

Meeting General Agenda

Feb. 4th 2015 meeting

  1. Report relevant updates from 7:50 and 8:00 daily MCC meetings:
    • Accelerator schedule: No daily/weekly MCC meetings. Expected schedule:
    1. Feb. 13 - Feb. 26: Beam restoration (13 days)
    2. Feb. 27 - March 26: Accelerator development. Physics running conditions are similar to Fall 2014: Accelerator has priority. Possible running for Halls A/B/D.
    3. March 27 - April 2: Commission 5-pass separator.
    4. Apr. 3 - May 4: Physics run (Halls A/B/D).
  2. Report on Work in the Hall:
    • If you have work to do in the Hall, please notify Tom (Hall work coordinator) and if necessary, document it in the electronic logbook.
    • OSL need to be worn everywhere in Hall D.

Installation punch list

  1. Reset HCO
  2. LH2 Target
    • Installation Tim. Mid. Feb. Craned up onto the platform yesterday. Tmorrow: servey and alignment.
    • Controls Target Group. Need to assign a dedicated screen for target control.
    • Verify that we can install a 1 mm solid CH2 target taped on the nose of the start counter in case of LH2 target failure.
  3. Goniometer
    • Build and install a frame at JLab for testing controls/tune procedure - Tim. Should be available early next week.
    • Richard Jones will provide a 100 μm diamond for initial tests -
    • Controls (Hovanes) Expect about 2 days of work.
    • Develop and test the tuning software: Ken L. will come on Apr. 17th. Franz K. and Eugene Pasyuk to take care of the initial tests?
    • Install nominal diamonds (sometimes in April)
  4. Active collimator (remains in its current position in front of 5mm hole and attached to primary collimator)
    • Test installation in front of 3.4 mm hole. (Time needed for the process:2×15min.)
    • Check alignment with pin for 5mm and 3.4mm holes
    • Check noise with new cable configuration Alex. B.
  5. Upstream profiler installed on a remotely controlled insertable holder
    • Design/construction: Tim. Parts are ordered. They will arrive March 6th at the earliest ⇒ Profiler will initially be static.
    • Installation/Control . Tom/Hovanes. 1 to 2 weeks to install and test controls once the parts arrive.

  7. Solenoid George/Beni.
    • Power supply maintenance: Danfysik Technician starts Jan 22, finish by Feb 1
    • Problematic connectors: >90% replaced 1 more connector to replace (on order)
    • Power Supply Robustness: Identifying available spares, finish by Feb 27
    • New VCL Flow Controllers: Vendor claims they are fixed, install by Feb 6
    • Cryo trips: Fixed; chart recorder reading flat-lines at 24V
    • Awkward ground fault fuse check: Requirement eliminated, simplify using high amp fuse by Feb 6
    • Annual system maintenance: Complete, all power connections and control terminations re-torqued.
    • Simplified Ramp- up/ down documentation: signed by Feb 20.
    • Defective He Level control (Cryo Group issue): Replace by February 20.
  8. Start Counter Eric. P.
    • Remove the piece of tape in the beam path. (Eric P.)

  9. FDC Lubomir
    • Chiller back by end of Feb. Sent to factory on 01/15/15 Tim/Tom
    • Implement power-off switch of equipment safety Dave B. Almost ready.
    • (Also for CDC) Analysis of Ar/CO2 gas mixture
    • (Also for CDC) Adjust the gas mixture with less argon. In Fall, it was closer to 57% than the nominal 50%
  10. CDC Beni.
    • Cable re-routing Fernando.
      • Rerouting of LV cables is done.
      • Rerouting of HV cables is done Will be tested next week.
    • Ready for cosmic run (BCal trigger) Replaced a few ADC already. Codi put new firmware in ADC.
  11. Pair Spec. Alex S.
    • Fix ≈10 channels? Fernando/Alex S./Vlad. Arm A: 2 channels to be looked at. Arm B: 6 channels. Will check cables but will not do anything beyond (too risky, given the time left before the run)
    • Have a user-friendly GUI allowing all time monitoring of coinc. rates Alex S.
  12. FCal Hovanes
    • Voltage GUI
      1. Improve underlying control software. Hovanes is working on it.

    • Fall run TOF performance and improvements for spring run will be discussed tomorrow.

  15. Shielding
    • Tagger
      • Improve shielding at entrance of tagger magnet
      • shield e- beam flange
        • Shield the bottom of the photon beam line pipe.
        • Use "Shadow shield (raise current wall just downstream of tagger magnet)
        • Add to the green wall a layer of 4 of polyethylene in the sheet of flame ( from beam line to south wall).
        • Fill empty beam-pipe hole in the green wall with polyethylene beads.

  16. Radiation monitor
    • In order
    • Install new radiation monitors

    • Lay cables for new neutron probe downstream of Solenoid
  17. Trigger Alex S.
    • Reduction of switching noise in FCal trigger Alex S.
      • Implement a trigger with high threshold for high energy signals and with SC (or TOF) coincidence for low energy signals
    • Trigger connection to TDC (Beni) Cables made by Chris for redundant timing information.
    • Firmware update
    • Change jumper in distribution board (Alex S.)?
    • Define trigger type and strategy for next run
  18. DAQ: Multiblock mode run at ≈20 kHz Sergey
    • Fix F125 firmware problem Cody is working on fixing it by mid-Feb.
    • Run Condition database RCDB interface with DAQ. Still don't know how to proceed. Depends on the availability of Dmitry.

  1. Online David L.
    • Fix high rate freeze Will start working on it by end of tomorrow.
    • Upgrade O.S. (Red Hat 7) Deferred to after Spring run, except for GLUON01 that is upgraded. Need to check if we can use it (e.g. by running CSS).
    • Improve software for scaler readout (Paul M.) Changing method to send data to epics.
  2. Accelerator RF timing (Elton/Fernando)
    • Current plan is that MO Hall D signal will be distributed to FCal plateform.
    • Fibers from accelerator are installed (Hall + Tagger)
    • Ordering cables for signal distribution.
    • Everything should be completed in about 2 weeks.
  3. Photon polarimeter
    • Should arrive between mid-February and early March
    • Fiducialize

  4. TAC
  5. Phone Sprint repeater.
    • Will be tested just before we start taking beam, when all equipments/controls are ready
    • Need to let IT know of the test, for safety purpose (won't be able to call 911/firefigheters/guards from cell phones in the hall) . IT have administration authority to turn repeater on/off. IT contact: Brian Hess.
    • Tom to be the interface with IT.
