Wednesday August 10

Past 24 hours

  • Pass change for Hall C (8:30am-13:30)
  • Harp scans when the beam came back.
  • Running on Pb target (30 nA). Another relatively good day: ABU=13.9h for the day (minus 4h of pass change -> 70% efficiency). Overall, quite a good week: ABU=103h for the week (64% efficiency).

Shift Reports

Reports

Issues

  • TAGH major link alarm. Description by shift leader. Cannot communicate with crate, but nothing wrong with HV and currents. Rates are fine -> we decided to run as it is (monitoring TAGH scalars with stripcharts) and have a look tomorrow morning.
  • Last night, had to wait again with beam down for 15min for a trip to be allowed to insert amorphous radiator. RC wrote again to Hall D ops contact and PD to ask for this policy to be amended.

Plans

  • Production on Pb target. When do we switch to empty target?
  • Thursday 11th: maintenance day starting at 6:30am.
    • Solenoid current to be lowered because of cryowork.
  • Next pass change (4->3) for Hall C will be Tuesday. They will likely be down for 6h-8h Monday to install their aerogel (unless they run with perfect efficiency, in which case they may

do it Friday. This is very unlikely). So, Monday appears to be auspicious for a TAC run.

Tuesday August 9

Past 24 hours

  • Running on Pb target (30 nA). Very good running: ABU=17.1h (71% efficiency)

Plans

  • Today: 5 -> 4 pass change for Hall C. Starts at 8:30am.
    • Malte will change a couple of PMT basis in FCal.
  • Harp scans after the beam pass change, then back to Production on Pb target.

Monday August 8

Past 72 hours

  • Running on empty target until Friday morning, 7:15am.
  • No beam until Saturday 1am due to RF-recovery (Friday 7:15-11am) and then several accelerator problems (RF-recovery recovery, storm). Then, very good beam (in terms of ABU, trip rate and stability)
  • From Saturday 1am, production on Pb target (30nA)
  • 40.1h of ABU (59% efficiency).

Plans

  • Today's 5 -> 4 pass change for Hall C is postponed to tomorrow. Consequently, 4 -> 3 pass change next Monday will likely be postponed to Tuesday too (So Monday 15th becomes a good day for a TAC run).
    • Malte will change a couple of PMT basis in FCal.
  • Production on Pb target.
    • We are now doing para/para/perp/perp/amo
    • Run event goals are 50% higher (360M for diamond, 90M for amo)
  • Thursday 11th will probably be a maintenance day.

Friday August 5

Past 24 hours

  • Running on empty target (60 nA).
  • Plan to do TAC run Thursday was postponed (Today, or around Aug. 15th).
  • Everything is going well: 15.1h of ABU (63% efficiency). Time loss mostly due to thunderstorm (3h).

Shift Reports

Reports

  • No report today?

Issues

Plans

  • RF recovery until ~noon +/- 1h. Hall C planned to be down until 1pm.
  • Access to put back Pb target if no TAC run today?
  • TAC run in the afternoon ? (Thunderstorms forecast), or production on Pb.
  • No RC meetings this week-end (unless some problem occurs).
  • Monday day: 5 -> 4 pass change for Hall C (Around 4h. Mostly invasive).

Thursday August 4

Past 24 hours

  • Running on empty target (60 nA). Everything is going nicely and smoothly: 16.6h of ABU (69% efficiency).

Plans

  • Production running on empty target until Thursday
  • Thursday morning, TAC run starting ~9am? (7-8 hours, assuming stable beam)
  • RF Recovery for 4hrs on Friday to prepare for weekend. Starts at 7:15am.
  • Monday day: 5 -> 4 pass change for Hall C (Around 4h. Mostly invasive).
