July 27th-Aug. 2nd

• Beni ramped up the solenoid on Aug. 1st. However, due to a problem with the PXI readout, it was ramped down. The solenoid was ramp-up again (Aug. 2nd) to its nominal 1350A, this time without problem.
• Target was cooled (C. Keith) and latter filled without problem (Aug. 1st)
• Shift Started on Aug. 1st, 8am.

August 1st-2nd : investigating and attempting to fix a problem with the front-end of the TagM. Did two long accesses to tagger, but the problem remains. Due to this, the runplan for August 3-4 has been reorganized

• CW beam arrived around 3am on Aug. 2nd, followed by beam quality checks.
  • Radiation levels are good.
  • Beam convergence is good
  • Beam position optimized (?), however transmission doesn't appear to be optimal
  • trigger checked out
  • Radiation level study done.
  • 15 min calibration runs (in long and production mode) done
  • CDC HV scan ongoing.

Issues:

• TagM
• We often get less beam current than requested
• DAQ start run issue: reminder of DIRC mis-communication solution
• Difficulty in setting CDC HV for CDV HV scan, see also Keigo's entry. It was fixed by rebooting the IOC.

Upcoming days:

• Hurricane/tropical storm Isaias
• TagM communication issue
• Week 1 time chart
• Richard plan for Act. Col. test
• Thursday: 1->5 pass change for Hall B. Hall A on-line.
• Tuesday 11th: Maintenance day?

Aug. 3rd

Run plan for today

Tasks completed:

• Took 1h "production" (with TagM down) amorphous run.
• Hovanes finalized the optimization of the transmission. Optimal transmission is obtained for:
  • Profiler: X = - 1.8 Y = - 2.1
  • AC: X = 0.8 Y = -0.4
• TagM fixed after 1:30pm-4:40-pm access. Sergey and Lubomir worked opportunistically in the Hall on TRD during Tagger access.
• Harp scan
• Short empty target run (cut short by CEBAF shutting down because of tornado alarm): run 72616, 56M events.

Tasks to be done:

• Hovanes to check JD70-105 diamond alignement
• Sacha finalized the trigger check out
• One production cycle at 150nA
• Start regular production.

Issues:

• Instable beam current (since the start of the run)
• Monitoring discrepancy: Hovanes observation, Naomi and Justin replies
• missing evio files
• Hurricane/tropical storm Isaias: CEBAF down and dropped to restricted access. Survey will not start until noon. Beam not expected until late swing.

• None: recovering from Isaias hurricane, with CEBAF going down on 08/03, ~2:30am

• Hovanes to check JD70-105 diamond alignement
• Sacha finalized the trigger check out
• One production cycle at 150nA
• Start regular production.

Issues:

• Instable beam current (since the start of the run)
