Data Production

  1. Monitoring Update --- Thomas noticed that in recent weeks, the number of omega's per 1k triggers had steadily dropped from 0.6 to 0.57. Paul and Sean pointed out that these were likely correlated to actual changes in sim-recon.
  2. Processing Update --- Alex A. reported that the monitoring run ver19 on the 2017 data was completed. It was a baseline for preparing for the next reconstruction launch. ver21 is on the farm, including changes to FCAL calibrations, CDC dE/dx changes, and a new BCAL charged track clusterizer.
    • Also, he reported that after a discussion in the offline group about how to increase effective use of the JLab farm, it is requested that users not submit their own jobs to run over the REST data anymore. A combined run will be planned at the end of every month, and users should submit their plugins to Alex. He will organize additional runs on request.
  3. Calibration Update --- Sean reviewed the preparations for the next reconstruction launch. This launch is now planned for just after DNP - it is hoped that the FCAL issues can be reasonably resolved by then. The current monitoring launches will be used to update calibrations and fixed bugs. Several features in the data should be understood, and help was requested in studying them.
    • Paul M.: send out some plots related to the features that are not understood.
    • Paul M.: Will we process 2016 data as well? A: Yes, the inner FCAL blocks need to be recalibrated and we still don't understand the differences between it and the 2017 data. It's worth the ~10% hit in time.
  4. Simulations Update --- Sean reported that a minor FDC bug is fixed. A large bggen run is planned once the next version of the trigger simulation is checked in. Sean and Mark Ito are coordinating this. Please send any special requests to them.

Analysis Focus: Total Cross Sections, Acceptance Corrections

  1. J/Ψ, φ --- Sean reported that studies continue with higher statistics channels.
  2. η, ρ, ω, φ --- Simon is comparing phi -> K+K- with Thomas.
  3. φ --- Thomas is revisiting his handling of Lambdas after looking more closely at a bump that he thought was due to mis-ID'd protons.
  4. Reinhard asked a question about how to analyze thrown particle information in order to get information needed for acceptance corrections. It was suggested that he send the question to the Software Help email list, but one answer involved mcthrown_tree.

Studies: Miscellaneous
