Minutes

Attending: Albert, Andrew, Beni, David L., Elton, Ilya, Rory, Simon.

  1. Previous CPP meeting: Jul 20, 2022
  2. Previous CPP Software meeting: Π polarizability Software Meeting May 5, 2022
  3. Announcements
    • This morning at 11, Tim is holding a meeting to discuss the changeover from CPP to PRIMEX
    • The new schedule is available and has extended the end of the CPP-NPP run till Aug 17.
  4. Action Items
  5. Spread Sheet with Run List (Albert)
    • Albert is updating daily, although will be traveling tomorrow.
    • There is consistency between the spread sheet and RCDB, expect for a run that is being checked. The RDCB query has been added to the spread sheet for reference.
  6. Software/Calibration, Simulations
    1. Inefficiency of MPWCs (Ilya)
      • Preliminary efficiencies from MWPCs 1-6
      • Note that this study is very preliminary and should be considered a work in progress.
      • Uses about a dozen runs for study. Selects tracks using all MWPC planes matching tracks and Fcal hits.
      • For a particular plane being checked, tracks are selected by all other MWPCs with +/-2 sigma matches. The plane being checked is marked as "inefficient" if there are no hits +/- 5 sigma from the position extrapolated from other planes. The estimated sigma is about 2 cm in plane 1, increasing to about 5 cm in planes 5 and 6 due to multiple scattering.
      • Rory: We expect that all planes should have roughly the same efficiency, since they are operating at the same voltage, threshold and gas conditions. He also noted that the wires around the beamhole that are experiencing high rate do not stand out from others and this is good.
      • The plots of "inefficiency" show values of between 3-5%.
      • Rory: Albert is starting to look at the CTOF triggers and the response of planes 5 and 6.
    2. Calculations of omega production (Ilya)
      • Angular distribution at 5 and 5.5 GeV
      • Angular distribution for 4.5-5.9 GeV
      • Ilya has calculated the angular distribution for coherent omega production off the nucleus. He presented angular distributions at 5, 5.5 and 4.5-5.9 GeV, since they are very energy dependent. He suggests that if one integrates over a large energy bite, one may wish to plot -t instead of angle.
    3. Neutral Channels analysis (Beni)
      • Used about 6 runs in the analysis
      • Analyzed exclusive pi0, pi0 g, 2 pi0, and 3 pi0, and also looked for exclusive eta and eta g.
      • A nice signal is seen in the exclusive eta channel. Ilya will try to calculate the estimated number of eta's from the Primakoff reaction.
      • The empty target signal has not yet been processed. Rory: Would be nice to see the subtracted angular distribution.
      • In the eta g channel, Beni sees a small signal that appears to come from phi -> g eta (Br=1.3%). Simon does not see phi -> K+K- in a single run. Consistency needs to be checked.
      • David: Suggested that one might be sensitive to the vertex distribution (z), if one selects omega -> pi0 g and checks the reconstructed mass with various vertex hypotheses.
    4. BH and rho production (Andrew)
      • Andrew showed progress on his rho and BH asymmetry studies.
      • For pions, compared samples for masses in the rho region (660-800 MeV) with the threshold (<300 MeV).
      • It appears that the rho angular distributions dominate even at threshold
      • Trying to process a larger sample of BH events, but getting some RCDB errors. He has contacted Sean about them.
  7. Photon beam / tagger / diamonds
  8. DAQ and Electronic Setup (Sergey and Beni)
  9. CPP-NPP Trigger
  10. Current Run
  11. CPP and NPP Experiment Configuration
  12. Documentation
  13. Other business
  14. Next meeting
