Introduction

This document describes the goals of the offline analysis that will be carried out during the fall 2014 commissioning run of Hall D.

Data Validity Checks

Once data are being transferred from the counting house to the computer center, it necessary to verify the integrity and validity of the data on tape.

  1. Can the data be read by the offline code?
    • Does the analysis code run over the data files?
    • Are there events in the data files?
    • Do the number of events match what is expected?
    • Is the average event size as expected?
  2. Can the data be decoded?
    • Tagger hodoscope data?
    • Tagger microscope data?
    • Pair spectrometer data?
    • Start counter data?
    • Central drift chamber data?
    • Forward drift chamber data?
    • Time of flight data?
    • Barrel calorimeter data?
    • Forward calorimeter data?

Detector Specific Data

  1. Are all channels present in each of the detector systems?
    • Tagger hodoscope data?
    • Tagger microscope data?
    • Pair spectrometer data?
    • Start counter data?
    • Central drift chamber data?
    • Forward drift chamber data?
    • Time of flight data?
    • Barrel calorimeter data?
    • Forward calorimeter data?
  2. Are the recorded values within expected ranges?
    • Tagger hodoscope data?
    • Tagger microscope data?
    • Pair spectrometer data?
    • Start counter data?
    • Central drift chamber data?
    • Forward drift chamber data?
    • Time of flight data?
    • Barrel calorimeter data?
    • Forward calorimeter data?

High-level Analsysis

 3) High-level analysis
    i) Can we reconstruct tracks in the chambers?
ii) Can we reconstruct photons in the calorimeters?
iii) Do we see photons in the tagger and microscope?
  iv) Event reconstruction?
