Minutes

Attending: Albert, Alex, Andrew, Beni, David, Elton, Mark, Rory, Simon

  1. Previous CPP meeting: Jun 30, 2021
  2. Announcements
  3. Action Items
    • Sean suggested using the files with skimmed omega events for the sample of pions to be used to study the light guide response. Elton has recovered files from tape for the 2017 period. Will investigate suitability of this sample.
  4. CPP and NPP Readiness Review
  5. MWPC Testing (Beni)
    1. Beni will work with Serguei this week to setup the DAQ, collecting modules and necessary interfaces.
      • Will coordinate with Mark (Stevens) to assemble equipment from the hall.
      • Gas system is ready.
      • Elton: Need to work with Chris to make sure the LV interface is done in time for testing.
    2. Rory: Plan is to come down to JLab with Albert the week of July 19. Names are on the access list. They can help with assembling the cosmic-ray setup when they are here if Beni collects all the necessary equipment for trigger/DAQ/etc. Will need two lab tables to place the chambers.
    3. Rory: Finishing preparations for the last four chambers. Waiting for a convenient time to bring them down.
  6. hdgeant4 updates (Beni and Simon)
  7. GlueX Data Analysis
  8. BH simulations (Andrew)
    • Richard showed detailed comparisons at the beamline meeting of his Dirac++ generator with the CERN "Bernhard" generator and then made some comparisons with the UMass generator. Good agreement is found in the asymmetry at the generator level. The precise values of analyzing power depend on precise event selection cuts and need to study these cuts in detail when comparisons are made.
    • Elton (my understanding): The Dirac++ generator develops the generator straight from Feynman graphs using both charged and magnetic nucleon FFs for the proton. The "Bernhard" simulation includes screening at low Q2 and agrees well with Dirac++. At higher Q2, corresponding to high invariant pair masses, the simulations diverge. The UMass generator essentially reproduces the "Bernhard" simulation at low Q2 and uses a single charged FF, which should extend the agreement with Dirac++ to higher Q2.
    • Elton: Inclusion of the Richard's BH generator into hdgeant4: Richard has added the capability to use command cards in the control.in input to use the generator. (Presently one needs to use the DEV version if using MCWrapper). However, the generation occurs inside the LIH2 (liquid H2 target) volume in the geometry and only works for standard GlueX. The CPP configuration with Pb target still needs to be worked out.
  9. PID + AI (Albert)
    • Slides showing distributions of muons (from Monte Carlo) and pions (from rho0 sample). Investigating variables that can be considered for training. The plots seem to make sense and can be used as input to studies of mu/pi PID. They are using Simon's branch that allows to match single hits in the FCAL with charged particle tracks.
