Items for followup from previous meeting

  • Elton to check light guide delays versus FastTrack and inform us if we are on a critical path.
    • Current light guide schedule about 3 months behind schedule baseline. Estimated time to glue guides is 10 weeks. Estimated completion is late Jan. -> impact schedule float, but not significantly.

Minutes

Attending:Elton, Beni, Yi, Eugene, David (JLab); Zisis, Andrei (UofR); Javiera, Hayk, Iñaki, Alam, Kuleshov (USM).

  1. Announcements
  2. Review of Action Items
  3. Update from Athens: monitoring
    • Fernando has approved the drawings for the Fcal monitoring.
    • Elton: My understanding is that all parts are in for the Bcal boards. Stuffing and assembly will begin next Monday.
  4. Update from USM
    1. SiPM Update (Javiera)
      • Third shipment of 520 SiPMs to JLab on Aug 31. Paperwork to smooth deliveries is underway.
      • Zisis: Add expected completion date for each line in the table based on progress.
      • Elton: Provide histograms of all measured units for each specification at T=20 deg C and V=1.2 V above breakdown.
      • Elton: Send dump of data base. Hayk: Suggest to send the dump on a disk with the next shipment.
    2. Light guides (Iñaki)
      • Table of measurements of light guides for the first two sets were shown. Some of the lengths are out of spec, but accepted by JLab.
      • The plan was to package today and ship out tomorrow.
      • Elton: Check the light guides with the JLab template before shipping to verify compliance. Check with JLab if the units do not pass.
      • Each light guide is given a number and all measurements are referenced to that number. The number is written on the wrapping of the light guides as they are packed.
      • The data will be shipped along with the light guides.
      • This morning USM received a machine that they can use to check dimensions of all light guides. This machine will improve quality and speed of production. Production bottleneck are the two measurements (presently conducted with the profile monitor). One measurement after machining and the second after polishing. The new machine uses video edge detection (VED) for the measurements. The new machine needs to be assembled and personnel trained to operate correctly.
  5. Status of testing at JLab
    • JLab is returning on SiPM (SN=1442) for failing the cell uniformity specification.
  6. Beam Tests, Cosmics
    • Zisis: Tegan has been writing a report on checking LED #10 compared to cosmic-ray response (response was low for LED#10 on both columns). The data show that the cosmic-ray data shows the these channels have no different behavior than other channels. Tara also checked the setup and found that LED#10 had popped out of pocket and was not fully illuminating the light guide. This appeared to be due to tension of the flexcables. The production flexcables will be longer and reduce the stress. We should also consider relieving the tension with a mechanical support.
    • SiPMs are being tested with the laser at different bias voltages.
    • Completing the analysis of the beam test data will be postponed till Sept.
