- Zisis gave a summary on the upcoming beam plans and shift scheduler, as reported in this week's Hall D meeting.
- One of the new Regina grad students got her visa and will arrive in Regina on Aug. 31. The other student is still waiting for his visa.
- Action Items: these will be tackled in due time. Tegan is working on the timing (time walk) code. He will circulate his code, so that he and Mark Dalton can coordinate efforts on this front.

- Software: the automatic script installation of software provided by Mark Ito failed in trying to install the GlueX software on Tegan's desktop (Scientific Linux 6). Tegan had (in part manually) managed to get the software installed and working (simulations produce reasonable results), and the effort was to automate the scripts, so that the new Regina students could use them 'out of the box' for their desktops. The next steps planned at Regina are to install/run the software on our local cluster (hydra) and then on the Westgrid cluster. The tripping point of Mark's scripts was in the building of Cernlib. David confirmed how notorious this problem is and recommended the use of pre-built binaries (after the meeting he provided the location of those on CUE disks).
- BDT: Tegan and Justin continued working on getting the BDT trained and compared to Will's (conventional) hard cut method. The training is done on a bggen sample, which has been run through the (slightly modified) photon_discrim plugin, with the separation between signal (photons) and background done with the 'match' variable from that plugin. Initial studies show the same efficiency in the BDT as achieved in the hard cuts, but with a 10% higher purity. The truth shower did not seem to be too helpful. David suggested the DBCALIncidentParticle class in JANA that records the particle properties for all particles entering the BCAL regardless of how they were created as possibly being helpful for the BDT.
- Timing code: Tegan is working on the timing off the fADC towards addressing the time-walk correction studies. David suggested using the svn diff command.

- With Richard Jones' help, input went into a 'White Paper' to Compute Canada regarding Canadian computational needs, coordinated on the Nuclear Physics side by Garth Huber (Executive Director of the Canadian Institute for Nuclear Physics). 30% of the GlueX needs were requested for running on the Westgrid cluster and the request was well received and had an impact on their radar, due to the size of the request. Zisis, Andrei and Irina have Westgrid credentials and the Regina students will get theirs soon. Progress will be reported to the GlueX Collaboration.
- David asked if Regina manpower is coming to the lab in the fall. Zisis replied yes, with Andrei coming first for a week in early September. He will be followed by George, Zisis and students in the Oct-Nov period. No travel plans have been made yet, waiting for more precise information on the beam.
