Minutes

Participants: Curtis, Naomi, Beni, Eugene, Mark, Lubomir, Tim

FDC Update

  1. Fourth cell of the second package was installed and all channels tested. Before, there were HV problems with this cell caused by imperfections found on few sense wires. Replacing three wires fixed the problem.
  2. Expect to install the fifth cell tomorrow. Certainly will be ready with the second package by the end of January, if not earlier.
  3. Focus now on the tests of the first package at JLab with DAQ. Cody is close to be ready with the automatic tests of the pre-amps, that we need for the first package. Beni: cables for the translator boards have been ordered, need also low voltage cables and ground cards.
  4. Discussions in the past weeks about using the colling tubing as ground. Concern is using electrically (and thermally) conductive grease, but for grounding we don't have to use grease, so it should work.

CDC Update

  1. 1256 wires still to be strung. Currently working on stringing row 21, on schedule for early Feb.
  2. Gary has been looking at Delrin for the upstream plenum wall material and testing glues with it.
  3. Gary also has a proposal for an inexpensive cooling ring for CDC electronics made from Tygon tubing with metal fittings and holes drilled at 45 degrees. Tim will double-check the temperature limits with Fernando.
  4. The Swiss cheese-plate and some small parts will be shipped to CMU in Jan.
  5. Tim said that the Rohacell is expected mid-Jan, it is coming from Germany. It will be machined in Feb and sent on to CMU in March. He will try to organise the photogrammetry for February.
  6. Beni asked how often the wire tensions are measured - a week after stringing and then approx 2 months later. We plan to measure them all again when stringing has been completed.
