- Jane visited Shanghai company and inspected 70 out of 175 new crystals as of her report on Friday
- Transmission looked okay, except the company reported values at 650 nA instead of 620 nA
- Want to ask company to give measurements consistent with previous ones
- Need to do cross calibration of transmittance measurements
- Some crystals had chips, some issues with quality control with chamfers, but generally better than previous batch
- Found 3 discolored crystals: 1 yellow, 1 brown, 1 purple -- Sasha pointed out that the discoloration is our major concern
- Don't have company send us these?
- Transmission looked okay, except the company reported values at 650 nA instead of 620 nA
- 50 more steel shields have been delivered, need to be annealed.
- Waiting for light guide company to demonstrate polishing improvement, then order 150
- Sasha installed last batch of crystals in PS setup before the run ended
- No big surprises (light output generally okay, except for 2 outliers)
- Want to do transmittance measurements for 2 bad ones, need access to Carl Zorn's lab, no word yet
- Plan to modify setup to make it easier to swap out a set of 12 crystals
- Sasha installed 3 modified dividers in COMCAL, but 2 needed to be modified at the last minute and did not work
- Will do more tests on the bench
- Enough hardware is available to build 20 more modules
- Need to finalize brazing procedure
- Work on inventory and coming up with a plan to proceed the week of 9/28/20
- Work is proceeding on JEF picture archive
