Minutes

Attending: Zisis, Andrei (UofR); George, Christina, Strators (Athens); Elton, Beni, Yi, John, Eugene (JLab); Will (USM)

  1. Announcements
    • Jlab network will begin restoration starting today
  2. Monitoring (Athens)
    • Christina is preparing response to JLab RFP for their monitoring contract. Collecting information on costs and schedules
    • Have prepared the plexiglass for new tests of Fcal light distribution
    • LEDs have arrived from Regina this morning (green and blue colors)
    • Light guides have arrived from USM
    • Simulation of production boards are being prepared so that tests can be completed with the USM light guides and new LEDs
    • Light guide for testing were prepared with a 2mm deep well.
  3. USM update
    • Last week first payment to Hamamatsu was completed and Hamamatsu signed the Jlab request for dropping 2800 units from their contract. Dance of three players completed according to schedule!
    • University is closed this week for their winter break
    • Billing cycle from Jlab needs to be initiated.
    • Elton asked about the timing for the Readiness Review. The timing can be considered over the next couple of months
    • Serguei is working diligently to get the big electronic boards fully tested
    • Daughter boards to simplify circuits are on order
  4. SiPM updates
    • (Regina) Test setup using borrowed DAQ system from T2K was unsuccessful. This week they borrowed the DAQ used for fibers and are taking some data. At the moment the system is being qualified.
  5. Simulations (Beni)
    • Studies of the efficiency of Bcal and Fcal in the gap region
    • A draft GlueX note was circulated before the meeting and discussed. Feedback will be included into the next version
    • Eugene: Take a typical reaction, which covers the relevant phase space, to obtain an average efficiency for various configurations as a basis for comparison.
    • The study shows the effect of the drift chamber frames in combination with the loss of photons in the readout region
    • Elton: Need simulations of the geometry before updates with new readout configuration
