Action Items from previous meetings

  1. Check impact of material at low end of readout, both in the tubes for cooling fluid but also in the Cu cooling plate. Need to check effect on particle trajectories.
  2. Fernando will check son SEMTEC cable assemblies.
  3. Calculate acceptance for various heights of the flat section (Elton).

Minutes

Attending: Jim, Yi, John, Elton, Fernando, Chris, Chuck, Carl

  1. Announcements
  2. Action Items
  3. Schedule, reporting, and manpower (Elton)
    • Updated EVMS spread sheet
  4. SiPM testing (Carl)
    • Collecting equipment for production testing
    • Identified 5 out of 8 QDCs.
    • Computer ordered, expected by mid July
    • Crate will require v430 CERN-style backplane. Need to identify one.
    • Student is testing diffuse reflector. Finds uniformity +/-2% over a 4"x4" area
    • Carl will be attending the New Developments in Photodetection Conference next week.
  5. Semtec cables
    • Fernando and Chris have found coaxial assemblies which might be very useful. An off-the-shelf test piece 4' long (40pin connector) is $74.
    • Assume length of cables for testing will be 25 ft
    • Use 20-pin connector for each SiPM array and use only 16 pins
    • Estimated delivery time is 5-20 working days
  6. SiPM cooling tests (Yi)
    • Teaching student LabView programing for temp test
    • Waiting for preamp board, everything else is ready
    • Fernando and Chris will provide a working preamp board next week for testing by Yi and Jack
    • Drafting NIM paper for SiPM radiation test
  7. Mechanical (Jim)
    • Model has been updated and transfered to Chuck
    • Drawings for transition board with connectors is being checked
    • John: Reminder to check the possibility of enlarging the 4-40 screws to hold the cooling plate
  8. Mechanical drawings (Chuck)
    • Light guides will be updated by removing the flat section near the base
  9. Geometry (Elton)
    • No update
  10. Temperature compensation (Jack)
    • Waiting for board from Fernando
  11. Preamp-summing (Fernando)
    • Presented performance of new circuit with 2" off-the-shelf cables. Rise time optimized by adding 2 Ohm resistor to circuit.
    • Present design meets the 15 ns rise time and 80 ns pulse length specification
    • GlueX note almost ready and will submit to Doc Db. Elton suggested to add a table with relevant information.
    • Decided to make changes to the preamp boards with the new resistance values and make available to Yi and Jack for testing.
