Attendees: Alex, Matt, Eric (Indiana), Elton, David, Elliott, Dan Carman, Blake, Rafael, Simon (JLab), Franz, Dan Sober (CU), George, Garth, Yianna, Zisis (Regina)

  1. Business Arising
    • Action Items: See updated list below.
  2. Hall-B
    • Electronics and Cabling: The upper half of the tagger cabling is done; the lower half is still apart for planned installations of new shields; everything should be ready by Friday. EPICS problem is solved. Network cabling is not done. We can survive as is but with reduced bandwidth. We now have capability to view 6 scope channels in the counting house.
    • DAQ/online: The tagger creates have been read successfully (phew!).
    • PMTs/Cosmics: Plots of the PMT gains have been circulated by email. They show the Burle and XP2020 PMTs grouped seperately, with the latter having lower gain; this is opposite to expectations. Perhaps this is caused by the bases used; all bases read the anode and the quantum efficiency of both types of PMTs is approximately the same. The South PMTs look ok, but there is a systematic problem with the North ones. Ideas to check were presence of a magnetic field, zero suppression in the ADC, ADC gates, grounding issues, etc. The cabling between North and South will be swaped to further investigate this.
    • Run Plan: Zisis continues to update the Run Plan. The key issues discusssed today were:
      1. Blake will coordinate the cosmics energy calibration to that expected from photons in all situations. The former is based on 4-5 MeV energy deposit per cell, whereas the latter ranges from < 1MeV on outer cells, to 60 MeV for a steep angle in a central cell. We appear to have adequate dynamic range for this.
      2. The Hall will be locked in the evenings next week. We should attempt to take advantage of any beam.
  3. Monte Carlo:
    • Rafael will simulate the effect of 0.5-3mm lead pre-radiator in front of the BCAL.
  4. Any other business
    • It was suggested to have meetings at JLab to review progress at the end of each day.
    • Doug Tilles will be trained in cart operation.
    • Franz will work on the tagger commissioning procedure.
    • We will (tentatively) schedule a Hall-B walk through on September 22.
