FDC Weekly Meeting

Date: January 3, 2007

Participants: Daniel, Tim, Chuck, Roger, Fernando, Kim

Next Meeting: Wednesday, January 10, 2007 @ 1:30 p.m.

ASIC Design

 - Fernando has been in contact with Mitch Newcomer about additional
design work on the ASICs to incorporate a discriminator for each
channel. This version of the ASIC would be used with the anode
readout that goes to the TDCs. Fernando will tell Mitch to
contact Elke and Elton regarding the budget. He is interested in
this work and could start on it in March after the current ASIC
design goes out for manufacture of the limited (50 chip) run.

Design Work

 - Tim and Chuck are nearly done with the layout of the anode boards
and the preamp daughter boards. Chuck will be in contact with
Roger and Kim to give them the design so that they can start to
layout the traces. This work should begin this week. We can then
see if there is suitable real estate for the traces. All components
on the STBs and HVTBs will be located between the wires. We still
do not have an answer from Karen Kephart at FNAL regarding whether
they are willing to do the winding with the components in place.

Thermal Simulations

 - Fernando has started work on the thermal simulations for the
heat sink. He has stated that the ambient temperature must not
go about 45 deg. Tim will work on performing simulations to see
if our forced air system can maintain this temperature.

FNAL Visit

 - Karen Kephart has invited us to visit FNAL to discuss the design
of the chambers and the specifications and tolerances. This
visit should probably take place this month so that we can
incorporate any feedback from her into the design. More details
   to come.
