FDC Weekly Meeting

Date: November 8, 2006

Participants: Daniel, Brian, Simon, Chuck, Tim

Next Meeting: Wednesday, November 15, 2006 @ 1:30 p.m.

Mechanical Drawings

Chuck and Tim presented first mechanical drawings of the FDC.
We went over what they did and made suggestions.
 - We need to redo the preamp daughter board placement.
    > 6 daughter boards per anode board (96 wires).
    > 12 daughter boards per cathode board (192 cathodes).
    > All daughter boards must be located with 120 deg arc.
 - Work to reduce the number of bolt holes - need to set spacing
to be compatible with all +/-45 deg, +/-60 deg configurations.
 - Design sealing cams for chamber through-bolts.
 - Possible to use SS end-flange for compression to further reduce
   chamber through holes?
 - Chuck and Tim need O.D. and I.D. of the frame annulus. Need to
work with the board designer to finalize annulus size.

Cathode Board Update

Flex board manufacturer can make boards up to 60in wide. Brian
is working to identify a kapton vendor. He will have word by
   Friday.
 - Brian expects that our flex boards for the mechanical mock-ups
can be done by the end of the year.
 - DSC suggested to proceed with sandwich construction using kapton
blanks. We will want to see how quickly the sandwich can be
   put together.
 - Dummy flex board design was completed by Jeff Wilson last week.
Boards can be sent out as soon as kapton source is identified.

Full-Scale Tensioning System

Brian is nearly ready to contact the shop to have full-scale
   tensioning system constructed.

G10 Source

Brian has identified a G10 source and the frame construction can
proceed once the design is completed.

Daughter Boards

Simon is looking into connectors for the daughter board. 5-mm
spacing may be an issue. DSC instructed that he talk to Chris
   Cuevas.

Budget Work

Simon is working on improving our budget estimates for FDC
construction. We will go over his work tomorrow.
