Items for followup from previous meeting

  1. SiPMs (USM)
    • Provide histograms of all measured units for each specification at T=20 deg C and V=1.2 V above breakdown.
    • Send dump of data base. Provide the dump on a disk with the next shipment of SiPMs Data base included in last shipment.
  2. Monitoring
    • Update the schedule of expected shipments of monitoring boards to JLab (Christina)
  3. Simulation
    • Provide (more) realistic parameterization of resolution for input into the simulation Andrei and Irina are finalizing the parameterization of these

Minutes

Attending: Christina, Stratos (Athens); Elton, David, Yi, Tim, Eugene (JLab); Will, Alam, Javiera (USM)

  1. Announcements
  2. Review of Action Items
  3. Monitoring (Athens)
    • 1000 LED boards ready to ship. 3000 all tested but not regrouped according to intensity. 150-170 boards waiting on replacement strips (to arrive next week)
    • Expect all LED boards and strings to be ready by mid November.
    • The controller bare boards will arrive next week and expect stuffing to be completed by the end of November.
    • Fcal prototype has been ordered. Will send to JLab to check. Expect quick approval and completion of boards by the end of the year.
    • GlueX-doc-2099 Optical cross talk with LED at center face of light guide
    • Elton: jerry-rigged a new string of LEDs to trigger T3 perpendicular to the small face of the light guide. Data indicate that the optical cross talk is the 4% on the right side, but very little on the other side. This is the case for the standard configuration as well as this new configuration. Tim: Probably the light guides are glued displaced from one another. This can be verified on the mini-Bcal and also procedures put into place to avoid for the production modules.
    • Elton: Can check the LEDs visually before installation by pulsing at about 1MHz and setting the bias to 12 V.
    • Zisis: Can check the high resolution photos of each module at the time of gluing to consider adjustments.
  4. Update from USM
    1. [SiPM Status] (Javiera)
      • Francisco has requested the final shipment of 360 sensors from Hamamatsu. Elton: Also need to receive the 10 additional units to complete the project.
      • Expect to ship 280 this week. Next shipments will be 640, which are ready but they need some of the reference pmts for data taking with the final 360. Final shipment will be 360 + 10. Shipments are precise numbers as received in packages from Hamamatsu in order to avoid any confusion with customs.
      • Information on the wiki has been updated. Elton will review and send any feedback.
    2. Light Guides
      • Summary by Will in Francisco's absence: Measurement machine is working well. Preliminary internal plots are showing the amount of material that gets removed by each operation, which can be shown soon.
      • Francisco submitted the light guide status after the meeting: Light Guide Status Oct 16
  5. Status of testing at JLab
    • Yi: Ivan is testing the 80 units that were installed on the mini-Bcal during the beam test.
    • Plan is in place to install an A/C unit on the box in order to remove humidity and measure devices at lower temperature.
    • Will: Consider source of mechanical vibration and electrical noise: Check that measurements taken with unit on agree with measurements when it is off.
    • Zisis: Testing continues on the 2010 pre-production units by taking measurements near the breakdown voltage in order to determine more precisely the breakdown voltage.
  6. Simulations
    • Andrei and Irina continue to crank simulations on sampling fraction. Should be completed by mid November.
    • David: Latest realistic simulation backed out of svn so that the large sample of background events to be generated will use the earlier simulation and avoid delay due to lagging shower reconstruction code.
  7. Beam Tests, Cosmics
  8. Other
