Run Coordinator report: Fall 2018 w9
From GlueXWiki
RC Report: Oct. 18th - 24rd.
Wednesday evening beam came back late due to problems in the injector. The beam had a new tune and focus. This exposed some weaknesses in our thin 17um diamond resulting an a skewed shape of the coherent peak. As a result we decided on Thursday morning to align the second diamond mounted in the goniometer with 47um thickness. The diamond alignment was very successful. Within 10 hours all four orientations were set and a very nice coherent peak with a very sharp edge was achieved. On Friday the injector again faced some problems related to the chopper. This was overcome in the afternoon and good beam was established to the hall. Over the week end production data was taken with only minor breaks due to DAQ and configuration changes. Beam was taken away Monday morning for scheduled beam studies in the machine. In the afternoon beam was tuned for HallD again. And production data was taken over night with very good efficiency. On Tuesday the RF-studies were kept short and beam was back into the tagger hall shortly before noon at which point preparations for a TAC run was initiated. This TAC run lasted from 12:30 to 18:30 with HallC off and only small bleed through from HallA. When HallC beam was turned back on the TAC run was stopped and regular production data taking resumed. On Wednesday morning facility development studies started to tune the cebaf machine for the upcoming HallA run that requires minimal energy spread.
