During this week we continued with start-up stages of running, and then the DIRC commissioning. During Wednesday and Thursday HV scans were performed for the tagger microscope, TOF and CDC and the general detector checkout was performed. We collected straight track data with the DIRC and the TRD/GEM detectors, with a special trigger in which only the region of FCAL immediately behind the TRD/GEM was used, and with the TRD/GEM in 3 different positions. On Friday the solenoid was ramped up and we continued to collect data with DIRC and TRD/GEM. There were many problems with software related to the various recent upgrades, Redhat7 and CODA. Sergei spent a lot of time working with the CODA group to debug the software and it seems to be running much more smoothly now. There is an ongoing issue with RCDB not updating during the run, this is being worked on. The diamond alignment software also required some work. Unfortunately much of the weekend data was lost during data transfer out of the counting house, and then on Monday morning at 5:30 a vacuum fault in the accelerator prevented delivery of beam until midnight on Tuesday. This provided an opportunity for access to replace faulty boards in the FCAL crate, troubleshoot the PS power supply, replace FCAL bases, etc, and also time for working on the DAQ and trigger setup. We are now continuing to collect DIRC commissioning data; early results posted in the logbook look very encouraging.
