Agenda
- SICCAS crystals
- Preparation for module fabrication
- COMCAL tests, TAC running, etc.
- Data analysis
- Simulations
Minutes
Attendees: Igal, Sasha, Jared, Bill B., Jane, Phil, Liping, Tim B., Tim W., S.T.
- Initial QA of 2nd batch of SICCAS crystals complete
- Sasha cleared procurement
- Week of 12/7: transmission measurements of 10-20 crystals; will compare measurements with SICCAS/Jane's results
- 3rd batch under construction, shipping schedule not clear
- Need to order 500 more -- not this fiscal year?
- Consensus was to give up on NSF MRI grant for crystal insert -- maybe smaller grants for insert work?
- Liping: supplemental funds for summer'21 work?
- Phil offered to help out with summer'21 work as well
- Construction of a small number of new modules more or less ready to go (Sasha wants to do a few by hand to firm up procedure before Christmas)
- PMT active base design almost complete (?)
- Vlad P. modified design to increase voltage on first dynodes + reduce voltage on last dynode -> reduced gain
- Also modified to reduce anode current (needs to be < 1 mA)
- Sasha compared amplitudes and anode currents for various configurations (with/without 3x external amplifier, old/new design)
- Shape of signal from LED pulse differs between base with bypassed amplifier and one with 3x amp
- Measure integral/peak to assess
- PCB board design complete (modulo resistor values)
- Order to be placed in January, 3 weeks delivery time estimate
- Plan is to implement new bases in COMCAL, use as prototype for insert
- Jared is preparing a report on his signal PDF studies for the dark scalar search
- Simulation/reconstruction
- S.T. slow progress working on implementing island algorithm for FCAL-II
- Discussion regarding adding detectors in front of FCAL/CCAL to use as charged particle vetoes
- Discussion of using CCAL clusters in GlueX reconstruction/simulation
- Geometry needs to be updated (beam pipe)
- Some data with CCAL was taken during the most recent run -- caused issues with particle combinations for event reconstruction: resolved?
