Minutes
Attending: Alex, Albert, Andrew, Beni, David H., David L., Elton, Ilya, Nikhil, Rory, Simon
- Previous CPP meeting: Nov 10, 2021
- Announcements
- Chiral Dynamics 2021. Rory is attending and presented an update on CPP/NPP.
- Patrizia has asked for an update on the MWPC testing. I have provided Log entries, but we need to write a report.
- Action Items
- See notes under action items.
- Software/Calibration for CPP (David, Alex and Sean)
- PID + AI - slides (Nikhil)
- Nikhil presented a first look at data provided by Andrew to develop a mu/pi separation.
E#* Need more realistic data that Andrew is working on. Rory: For the pions we probably want to use actual rho data in order to avoid training on possibly unrealistic MC simulation for hadron interactions.
- There was considerable discussion and feedback.
- David: One general strategy consideration is to train algorithms on a single track (i.e. have a PID/track) or on two tracks together or "event"(i.e. have a PID algorithms that looks at both tracks at the same time).
- Rory: The strategy for e/pi has been based on single tracks. Andrew: A benefit of this strategy is that this allows checking individual particle rates (e.g. charge exchange reactions in the e/pi case). Andrew: One may also consider a hybrid approach, i.e. single particles using FCAL info and "event " information in the MWPCs.
- Elton: The projection of the tracking in the FDCS to the MWPCs should be a useful handle. Andrew: The information is supposed to be available, but a bug set it to zero (this should be fixed now).
- Data for AI (Andrew)
- Files with mu pairs are located in /w/halld-scshelf2101/home/acschick/CPP_MCFiles/BHgen_muons.
- Working on providing pion data.
- MWPC Testing
- FMWPC Log Book
- Mechanical tests in the TEDF building with MWPCs. The proposal is to use Arwen, Bilbo and Celeborn for this purpose.
- Rory will be in the lab the week of Dec 13. We will keep Frodo and Galadriel in EEL126 so they can be studied.
- CPP and NPP Experiment Configuration
- Elton urged everyone to update this location on the wiki so that it will be the "go to" place to find information for the run.
- Electronic Configuration (Beni)
- Consolidating a list of necessary equipment and coordinating with Nick, Chris and Fernando.
- It appears all is "under control"
- hdgeant4 updates (Mark)
- Software consolidation (Simon)
- Richard has addressed Action item #4 by making the truth information from the MWPCs available.
- E-mails have detailed where software is being developed. They have now converged on a single CPP branch. Changes are being pushed to this branch, which will eventually be merged into the master.
- Details of the CPP branches/repositories can be found in e-mail from Simon
- GlueX Data Analysis
- CPP Simulations
- Other business
- Next meeting
