Minutes
Attending: Elton, David, Tim (JLab); Will, Sergey, Orlando, Javiera, Hayk, Iñaki (USM): Matt, John (IU); Zisis, Andrei (UofR); Christina, George (Athens)
- Announcements
- Review of Action Items
- Monitoring
- First controller board
- Arrived from Athens and has been installed on the mini-Bcal. Signals have not yet been checked.
- Second controller board
- Order has been lost.
- Unclear if it will be easy to add the second controller board to the mini-Bcal before (during) the beamtest
- Decided that it would be useful to have the second controller anyway for mini-Bcal testing with cosmics this summer.
- Christina will clear up initial order, then order the second controller so we can have it on hand as soon as it is needed
- Customs issues for SiPM loan
- We and considering hand carrying the items.
- First controller board
- Cable Labels
- Elton asked Matt and Zisis to review labels for Fcal and Bcal, respectively
- FCAL
- Construction Status
- Continue to glue light guides
- Cockcroft-Walton bases iterations with company
- Company has produced a draft schedule with milestones for delivery of all bases, but the schedule has already changed since then
- Issue is the conformal coating of the HV boards. They have contracted with a 3rd party vendor to coat 1900 units. IU will be able to inspect production before and after coating
- About 500 are being coated at the company and will be shipped soon to IU for inspection
- The first 500 assembled units are being taken apart a IU and recoated.
- The present schedule will have all bases completed by the end of April.
- The TRAN board is being produced satisfactorily
- the socket board is produced in house and we anticipate no problems.
- The completion of the project by June is very tight. Will re-evaluate situation next month.
- Support Structure
- John L. is at IU and discussing cabling issues with John F.
- Have all the certification docs from vendor except for the inspector's certification. Tim agrees that the contract should go forward and all final certifications obtained during fabrication.
- 2011 Hall B FCAL Beam Test (John)
- Hall B is at 4 pass. Changeover to 5 pass was unsuccessful last week but accelerator has found the problem and expect to delivery 5 pass (electron) beam till next Monday.
- Integrated Fcal and Hall B data were taken successfully to characterize the remote scintillators
- Construction Status
- BCAL
- BCAL Beam Tests 2012
- Bcal readout assemblies were successfully put together and tested with LEDs last week,
- The assemblies are presently mounted on the mini-Bcal.
- Hovanes has written some EPICS GUIs to control the 5V and bias lines.
- We were able to power one cell and see some cosmic-ray pulses on the scope. More checks to follow
- Alex is starting to setup the DAQ system
- BCAL Beam Tests 2012
- USM update
- Production manager report (Javiera)
- Stage 1. Photos of 510 MPPCs taken and are being loaded to the dB
- Stage 2.
- Problems included delivering the bias to the units
- Data were taken when the reference PMT was in the wrong position, leading to incorrect PDE values
- Issues corrected and new data are being taken
- Stage 3
- Took data to see if second p.e. peak was visible
- Increased DAQ rate so that scans can be taken more quickly
- Readout in the dark box have been fixed, bringing the total number of working channels to 31.
- To date a total of 270 sensors have been measured, but only 108 have all analysis completed.
- Station 3 temperature measurements (Orlando)
- Very high uniformity of temperature was measured on the copper plate at three different temperatures.
- Will suggested to show some data when the temperature was changing to verify correct operation of system.
- Analytical analysis of light production and cross talk (Orlando and Sergey)
- Slides were shown with comparison of MC with analytical formulas for mean and sigma.
- Used same notation as Yi
- New evaluation of cross talk using analytical formulas (Orlando)
- Good consistency between analytical method and fitting technique.
- Station 3 data analysis (Hayk)
- Showed uniformity of data from Stage 3 analysis for all quantities except dark rate.
- Open discussion regarding acceptance criteria for the sensors completing this stage 3 test.
- The extraction of the dark rate is problematic at room temperature and relatively low voltage (Vbr + 0.9V).
- Considering robust extraction of the dark rate in all conditions.
- Update on lightguide production (Iñaki)
- Profile projector
- Measurements of unpolished guides difficult due to large edges producing shadows over small edges
- Polished guides also present some difficulties with some dimensions
- The length of the table is not long enough to accommodate the 8 cm light guide. Elton suggested that a caliper could be used for this dimension
- Go/no-go gauges
- Used a laser cutter to produce test gauge
- Need to establish how much material is machined away to compensate for final dimensions
- Use of gauges complicated because the light guides have angles. Elton: Suggest to make he gauge sufficiently thick to guide the light guide straight through (at least for the base).
- CNC machine
- Parts to solve the problem with the x-position controller arrive yesterday
- The system is being checked out now to see if the new parts fix the problem.
- Profile projector
- Production manager report (Javiera)
- TDR update
- Instructions for the TDR (You must be logged into the wiki to access this page).
- We need to start revising Chapter 4 Detector, Section 4.3 Calorimetry.
- Calibration of Calorimeters
- Simulations/Reconstruction
- Any other business
