• Preparation of parts for ECAL modules -- Sasha
  • Crystals:

    - Received all crystals from CRYTUR [1].

    - Jane with students performed inspection of 88 crystals, expect to receive 66

  • Received all long signal cables from the first order (1200). Received 450 short signal cables [2]
  • Procurement parts for the LMS:

    - Waiting for 7,600 ft of optical fibers (August/September)

• Module fabrication -- Sasha
  • All modules have been fabricated, proceed with the final inventorization (about 1610 modules in total)
  • Fixing about 20 modules with small imperfections (overlapping Tedla)
• Ongoing projects -- Sasha, all
  • Visual inspections of fabricated modules [3] - done
  • Prepare to move modules into Hall D [4] [5][6]
  • Prepare space for the ECAL in Hall D. Move and install shelves. 70 modules have already been moved into the hall [7].
  • Tested, labeled, and bundled (53 bundlesout of 100) [8] of signal cables connected from the flash ADC to the patch panel [9]. Receive cartridges for the printer, will resume labeling and cable bundling today.
  • Removing signal cables from the FCAL and rearranging signal cables in the hall [10] Rearranging_FCAL_cables - done

    - 400 signal cables were removed,re-labeled and bundled

    - all cables have been re-arranged, two VXS crates can be removed (will be used by the ECAL)

    - install two flash ADCs

  • Cutting optical fibers and gluing plastic caps [11]

• Jane's group inspected 88 SICCAS crystals, of which we will reject 22
  • 66 crystals to be sent to JLab, will be inspected on site
• Have 1602 good FCAL-2 modules and ~30? scratched/chipped/poorly wrapped spares in hand
• Checked 644 modules using LED in black box, saw ~25% spread in amplitude
• Wrapping assemblies in plastic in preparation for moving to hall
• Short cables for installation in dark room arriving
• Need to make 47 large cable bundles
• All donuts glued and fibers polished for existing fibers, still waiting for remaining fibers
• Stacking LG in hall continues -- as of meeting, up to layer where lead tungstate crystals would be installed
  • Survey and alignment crew checked flatness
• Reference PMTs for LMS will probably need additional magnetic field shielding
• Discussed idea of installing fiber profiler in front of COMCAL to aid in measuring the transverse shower profile
• Simon presented an update on the island algorithm development
  • Added S-curve correction to try to remove residual position bias
  • Simulation studies indicate small overall position bias, needs to be understood
  • Island algorithm works better for insert than for LG region, needs to be understood
  • Staggered geometry needs to be added to geometry specification
