Check quad current

From Hall D Ops Wiki
Jump to: navigation, search

The current for the quadrupole immediately upstream of the tagger magnet is important because it serves to focus scattered electrons into the sweet spot of the tagger detectors. During normal production running the value should be -4.2 Amps. This magnet is often changed by MCC inadvertently when the setup the machine from an "ALL SAVE" position. If the value is incorrect, phone MCC to have it changed.

The current value of the current can be found on the GlueX Overview CSS screen or using the epics variable MQPAD00M.

GlueX Overview CSS:

  1. Open Hall-D CSS EPICS Control if not already available following instructions.
  2. From Main Action Bar, click General GlueX Overview in GENERAL section.
  3. The quadrupole immediately upstream of the tagger magnet readouts are on the top near the middle of the screen, indicated by the ellipses in the figure.
