Agenda

  • Announcements
  • Status of CDC ASIC Work
  • Work on finalizing the ASIC

Minutes

  • ASIC studies for the CDC and FDC are ongoing.
    • Simon has posted a number of cathode and anode pulses from the FDC prototype in the location linked above. There was some concern raised about the narrowness of the FDC pulses relative to the CDC pulses, but no quantitative comparisons were made.
    • Curtis and Yves have been running with the 18m long cables for about a week now and note that the gain of the ASIC seems to be a bit too high, an observation confirmed by Simon, but we are not in a position yet to estimate how much smaller the gain should be. Curtis and Yves will be working on a pulse library today (4/28) and tomorrow. The next step is to tilt the CDC to try to get a handle on the dynamic range. They plan to run for another week in this configuration.
    • Curtis has orderd an Fe-55 source to use to determine the gas gain of the CDC. The source has not arrived yet.
  • Construction for the CDC gravitational sag test is underway (it's about half-completed). The next CDC prototype design is temporarily on hold while the technician (Gary) is busy with the sag test. Curtis and Yves expect the new prototype to be built by early-to-mid summer. Meanwhile they will also perform some glue tests.
  • Simon reported that Brian Kross has returned from Indiana after the winding test. Results of the test should be coming in soon, but right now details are sparse.
  • There will be a session on the upcoming collaboration meeting dedicated to CDC/FDC hardware issues, including the ASIC. During this time we need to discuss the path to the summer and beyond in terms of further prototype studies and upcoming procurements.
