Items for followup from Jan 15 meeting

  1. Resolution studies (Blake)
    • Develop criteria for evaluating resolution studies
    • Study impact of inactive material at the end of Bcal on acceptance.
    • Check what configuration (thresholds, step sizes, stack? parameters for secondaries, etc) is being used for the Hall D simulations (Regina)
  2. Writeup fiber handling procedures for review by Kuraray (UofR - draft given to JLab)
  3. Lead contract completion including lead sizes (Tim - RFI out this week, RFQ out next week)

Documents to Review

  1. GlueX-doc-1173 Fine mesh pmts
  2. GlueX-doc-912 Magnetic fields at pmt locations

  3. BCAL Update
    1. Bcal construction schedule (Regina)
  4. BCAL Readout
    1. Roadmap toward a decision for Bcal Readout
    2. GlueX-doc-1214 Performance of SiPMs below room temperature
    3. Energy threshold for various assumed PDE and DR combinations

Minutes

Attending: USM: Will, Joaquin, Pedro, Edward, Manuel, Alam; UofR: George, Andrei, Kathryn, Zisis; JLab: Elton, Elke, Eugene, Fernando, Beni, Tim; IU: Matt, Mihajlo, John, Joe, Claire, Ryan.

  1. Announcements
    • Welcome USM students: Joaquin Delgadillo, Pedro Toledo, Edward Alvarado, Manuel Mendez, Alam Toro USMphoto
  2. FCAL Update
    • Work progressing on interface between regular LGD and rad-hard LGD. Will likely arrange the blocks in a circular arrangement.
    • Discussions between Tim, John, Matt and Elke agreed to rough division of responsibility on the construction of the support structure and dark box (to be described in the MOU):
      • John will produce detailed drawings (for review)
      • Conceptual design for dark room (details are not needed for a while). Dark box to be fabricated on site at JLab
      • IU to fabricate support structure.
  3. BCAL Update
    1. Bcal construction schedule (Regina)
      • MOU circulated to UofR Research Services and Deans office
      • Internal memo describing space requirements
      • Holder for fibers and tester to be completed today
    2. Issues concerning customs and taxes - discussions ongoing regarding import/export of fibers and SiPM
      • Will suggests that we keep Chile in mind in these discussions. He will investigate options in Chile regarding loans, donations, transfers, etc.
  4. BCAL Readout
    1. Roadmap toward a decision for Bcal Readout
    2. GlueX-doc-1214 Performance of SiPMs below room temperature
    3. Energy threshold for various assumed PDE and DR combinations
    4. Discussion
      • USM: Consider what SiPM cooling measurements can be done in Chile
      • Current setup in Chile includes small dark box, ADCs, power supplies. About 80% of hardware for simple tests to date.
      • USM is reviewing a possible 'alternative' design for readout. This includes light transmission, effect of B-field on readout. Plan is to develop a conceptual design for comments and feedback. Suggestions for tools for studying light collection. Elton, Matt and Zisis to send information regarding tools which have been used for studying light collection.
  5. Simulations (Blake et al): a progress report is expected at the next meeting (Feb 19) and a written one not long after.
    1. Matt: Add hooks to code so that DR and PDE can be provided as input parameters.
  6. Any other business
