Agenda

  • Preparation of parts for FCAL2 modules -- Sasha
    • Available crystals:
      1450 (modules)
      32 (ready for fabrication)
      40 (installed on CCAL)
(some CCAL crystals from the inner part will not be used for the FCAL2)
95 expect to receive from CRYTUR in May [1] Expect to start shipping crystals in the 2nd week of April.
      Total 1617
    • Disassemble the CCAL prototype
25 CCAL modules unwrapped and the LMS cap removed [2]
Modules installed in the inner part of the CCAL
    • George (DSG group) is unwrapping CCAL modules and removing LMS caps. He'll also work on preshaping ESR reflectors (100 pcs) for CRYTUR.
    • Mindy (DSG group) 5 modules wrapped. She continues soldering wires to sockets
    • Fix length of LV and HV cables inside the dark box. Chris S. will place an order.
    • Got quotes for optical fibers for LMS, will order them today.
  • Module fabrication -- Sasha
    • Fabricated modules: Total 1482
Currently available for fabrication: 5 (modules will be available during next week)
  • Testing of PMT dividers -- Sasha / Arshak
    • FCAL2 modules with dividers installed on the CCAL [3]
  • Installation of the FCAL2 detector & integration to GlueX -- Sasha / Arshak
Discussion of the FCAL2 installation procedures [5] [6]

Minutes

Attendees: Bill, Arshak, Igal, Eugene, Sasha, Zisis, Malte, Jane, Jon, Liping, Tim W., S.T.

  • Crytur confirmed delivery date for 95 remaining crystals, to be sent second week of April
  • 25 COMCAL modules have been unwrapped, caps for LMS removed
    • 5 wrapped, ready for assembly
  • George from detector support group preshaping ESR for Crytur crystals
  • Length of LV/HV cables has been fixed
  • Fibers for LMS to be ordered
  • Number of fabricated modules remains at 1482
  • Bench test setup for PMT dividers has been restored
  • Reference PMT for LMS system need to be shielded due to fringe field of solenoid
    • Plan to test one new divider to verify gain, then ask for first article of final version
  • Concerns brought up at installation meeting
    • Module compression: number of plates in on each side of insert region?
    • Center of gravity of lead glass assembly ~2 cm from downstream end of PWO crystal
    • Tim suggested putting brass straps on top/bottom of crystals
    • Some discussion of having 2 mm thick plate on top between crystals and LG, would like to avoid
    • Shims between PMT housings
    • Need to compensate for width of stainless steel straps used for LG, have spares, could be used for this purpose?
  • Students start arriving in May; Jane will send a student
  • Igal found ~90% efficiency for CCAL-implementation of island algorithm for 2 photons
    • Merging of soft photons not enabled in default algorithm
  • Discussed possible presentation at Hadron conference
