Agenda

  • Preparation of parts for ECAL modules -- Sasha
    • Crystals:
      - 70 SICCAS crystals were shipped to us
    • Received 900 short signal cables [1]
    • Procurement parts for the LMS:
      - Waiting for 7,600 ft of optical fibers (August/September)
  • Module fabrication -- Sasha
    • All modules have been fabricated, checked, and inventorized (about 1610 modules in total)
  • Ongoing projects -- Sasha, all
    • Visual inspections of fabricated modules [2] - done
    • Prepare to move modules into Hall D [3] [4][5], wrap modules with sort towels.Moved about 800 crystals to the hall [6].
    • Tested, labeled, and bundled all 100 (+ 2 spares) [7] signal cables connected from the flash ADC to the patch panel [8]. Receive cartridges for the printer, will resume labeling and cable bundling today.
    • Cutting optical fibers and gluing plastic caps [9], waiting for 7600 ft of optical fibers
    • Report from students
    • Test fabricated modules using LMS [10], 1242 modules have been tested (need to update the wiki page)
    • Work on refurbishing LG modules (wrapping, PMTs, etc.)
  • Testing of PMT dividers -- Sasha / Vlad
    • Received 10 dividers (first article) ! , going to test them during this week (Chris)
  • Proceedures
  • Installation of the FCAL2 detector & integration to GlueX -- Sasha / Arshak / Vlad / Hakob
  • Light monitoring system -- Arshak
  • Analysis/Simulation

Minutes

Attendees: Igal, Bill, Phil, Sasha, Arshak, Malte, Jon, Liping, Axel, Igor, Olga, S.T.

  • Still not have received the remaining length of fibers -- expected late August/early September?
  • Continue moving crystals to Hall D (now ~1000 on shelves)
  • All external (outside of dark room) cables labelled and bundled (+2 spares)
  • Checking of modules using dark box and LED continuing
  • Electronics for 10 first article PMT dividers arrived -- if okay plan to order full set week of 8/14/23
  • Installation of FCAL-2 modules continues -- now up to middle of insert region
    • Some disassembly/reassembly was need to get rid of uneven surfaces
    • Inner support pipe will be reduced in length before installation
      • Rely on air cooling -- expect gradient across insert
  • Plan to keep temperature for FCAL-2 blocks near 15 degrees Celsius (can go down to 5 degrees Celsius)
  • Arshak continuing to work on fiber ends for integrating sphere
  • Discussed possibility to build new fiber profiler to use to measure shower profile
  • Simon presented a proof-of-principle that we can use electron tracks in the real data to measure the profile and the S-curve dependence of the position of the showers
