Minutes

Attending: Jim, Elton, Jack, John, Yi, Carl, Eugene

  1. Announcements
  2. Action Items
  3. Schedule, reporting, and manpower (Elton)
    • Prototype of bias/temp comp board will not be completed till the first week in April
  4. First article testing (Carl and Yi)
    • Half (40) of the samples have been tested
    • All data looks very good, but there are some anomalies. The gain seems to be somewhat low as well as the dark current and (possibly) the PDE. This may be due to running them at slightly lower gain (10%) than nominal. Carl is pausing to review the measurements. Will continue testing starting on Monday.
  5. Mechanical cooling (Jim)
    • Drawings showing space and placement for monitoring boards was reviewed. Based on the discussions this morning and the new concept for the controller boards, it appears that it will fit comfortably.
    • We did have some discussion about the cables to the controller boards. We assume that these can be two of ribbon cables, a 4-pair for power, and a 4-pair for trigger signals.
    • The controller board may need to have a large capacitor to provide sufficient charge to all LEDs discharging at once.
    • The material of the cooling fluid tubes is in the particle acceptance. We discussed ways of minimizing the interference: use aluminum? shave off material at low edge? bend pipes and bring them out at an angle? This will need to be studied using particle trajectories and determine the impact of the material on reconstruction.
  6. Temperature compensation (Jack)
    • No new update on the temperature compensation
    • Jack has found that Hamamatsu has some small HV supplies that might be able to be used for production testing of SiPMs. Will send out the data sheets. He requested costing information from Hamamatsu, but they have not responded (likely due to the fall out of the recent disaster).
  7. Preamp-summing (Fernando)
  8. Discussion
