Action Items from previous meetings

  1. Responsibility for U-board in prototype. We all assume Fernando is taking care of this, but we need confirmation. Fernando confirmed that it is his responsibility.
  2. Define cabling to controller boards: can they be ribbon cables? Yes
  3. Check impact of material at low end of readout, both in the tubes for cooling fluid but also in the Cu cooling plate. Need to check effect on particle trajectories.

Tentative Agenda

  1. Announcements
  2. Action Items
  3. Schedule, reporting, and manpower (Elton)
  4. First article testing (Carl and Yi)
  5. Mechanical cooling (Jim)
  6. Temperature compensation (Jack)
  7. Preamp-summing (Fernando)
  8. Discussion of production testing (Elton)

Minutes

Attending: Chris, Fernando, Yi, Carl, Elton, Jack, Jim, Chuck

  1. Announcements
  2. Action Items
  3. Schedule, reporting, and manpower (Elton)
    • Schematics completed for preamp/summing board
  4. First article testing (Carl and Yi)
    • No update
  5. Mechanical cooling (Jim)
    • Shop is getting quotes and schedule estimates for mechanical prototype this week.
    • Added ribbon cable connector (micro subD 9-pin) for monitoring
    • Bent cooling tubes by 15deg. Need to check the effect on particles
  6. Temperature compensation (Jack)
    • After discussion, decided to use a "single-unit" prototype for temp stability board.
    • Would use a the "U" board, which Chris is developing for the actual design
    • Would use a section of the cooling plate (from Jim)
    • Will attache the cooling plate to a Peltier to establish temperature.
  7. Preamp-summing (Fernando)
    • Chris will complete the layout of the "U" board next week, It will take a few more weeks to make a few.
    • Will present a discussion of cabling and grounding next week.
    • Considering thickening the electronic board from 62 mils to 93 mils for mechanical stability
    • Fernando will make electrical diagrams available to Jim and Jack in a Hall D repository
  8. Discussion of production testing (Elton)
    • Discussed options for production testing: a) copy of USM system (checks individual cells) b) develop new system to test all cells c) use summed output and check individual cells using existing single unit test stand.
    • Yi needs to check to see if single p.e. peaks are visible in the summed spectrum.
    • Uniformity of gain between cells will show up as degraded single p.e spectra.
    • A summed system can use much of the components which are planned for the full detector.
