Minutes

Attending: Christina, Pavlos, George (Athens); George, Zisis, Andrei (UofR); Elton, Yi, John, Eugene (JLab); Will (USM).

  1. Announcements
  2. Review of Action Items
  3. Monitoring Update (Athens)
  4. USM Update
    1. Schedule for deliveries
      • Expected from Hamamatsu Dec 6, but payment schedule needs to be clarified.
      • Shipping of 30 first-article units from JLab. Units are ready, but we are trying to make sure all the paperwork is in order before shipment.
    2. USM Web Interface to DB
    3. Progress on microscope inspection station and PDE station
      • Test station with camera takes pictures with good resolution
      • Station 2 (PDE) measurements was reviewed
      • Wooden dark box for station. Uses JLab board. LED illuminates clear fiber, which feeds a solid cylinder to mix light and output fibers (on the same side as input) provide relatively uniform light to individual cells of SiPM.
      • Light uniformity times cell uniformity is about 15-20%. This test used the SiPMs with 20 V in reverse bias mode. Variations from quadrant to quadrant are major, but little variation within quadrant. [Note that both UofR and JLab see variations within a quadrant].
      • John: Suggests that the sensor be rotated to check variations among quadrants
      • Eugene: Asked about cross talk. The question will be passed on to those doing the work. Also noted that materials in dark box (especially reflective ones) should be painted black.
      • Elton: Asked about how the absolute calibration for the light source is obtained (required for the PDE). [Note: Regina does the measurements with the Hamamatsu laser and a calibrated diode].
    4. high-resolution photo of MPPC
  5. SiPM update
  6. Electrical/cooling (Elton)
    • Mechanical pieces already arrived or on order.
    • Electrical boards should be ordered before the holidays.
  7. Geometry and light guides
    • Order placed with USM. They have ordered material, but fabrication has not started.
    • Gluing tests continue with plexiglass and lead separately.
    • Regina has shipped 4 Bcal slices, expected by Friday.
    • Eugene: We should check gluing tests through temperature cycles.
    • Note that KLOE glued their modules vertically using BC-600, which is the same glue used for the matrix.
