Action Items

  • Send link to accelerator commissioning procedure (Mike)
  • Send Todd a geometry of tagger area, including the mapped tagger magnet field, for GEANT simulations (Richard). Sasha says he will do this
  • Todd will provide the magnetic field of the quadrupole immediately upstream of the tagger magnet (Todd) Todd has requested the information and will pass it on when he gets it
  • Check that radiator set for commissioning is available (Alexandre, Hovanes) Material for 2x10^-4 available, Alexandre will order the 1x10^-4 material
  • Check that RadCon detectors are available/installed in tagger hall and hall D (Alexandre) Draft plan with Radcon is in place and will be pursued
  • Check that 'rapid access system' is being implemented in Hall D (Alexandre) Draft plan with RadCon is in place and will be pursued.
  • Organize preparations for review (Elton). See minutes

Minutes

Attending: Elton, Alexandre, Hovanes, Eugene, Sasha (Hall D); Todd, Michael (Accelerator)

  1. Announcements
  2. Electron Commissioning (Todd/Mike)
    • Procedures were scanned and comments made. Alexandre has read the documents and asked for some clarifications
    • Specifically, the plan is general and needs to be adapted to the commissioning. For beam delivery #58 should be changed to active collimator long term. For the commissioning we need to insert a test plan to align the photon beam.
    • Specific comments to the procedures can be sent to Michael.
  3. Photon Commissioning Draft (Alexandre)
    • Thickness of radiators discussed and settled
    • Plan to use cw for beam delivery with radiator inserted. Goal is to use about 100 nA.
    • Alexandre has updated the procedure based on comments from last week and will also adjust based on comments today
    • Discussion (unresolved) on how many locations to place the profile monitor: a) in front of collimator [for initial alignment] b) upstream of target [under discussion] c) downstream of Fcal [long term operation]
    • Need to update the photon beam commissioning procedure with quantitative rates and ranges of expected tuning parameters, e.g. currents in corrector magnets
  4. Radiation monitors
    • Alexandre is in communication with RadCon to borrow some radiation monitors for the commissioning run.
    • neutron, gamma monitors in tagger hall (one at the electronic rack location, one at the microscope location)
    • gamma monitor in collimator cave.
    • Monitors could be purchased later if we believe they are necessary for long-term use.
  5. Aug 8 Review: Location CC L102
    • Reviewers: Mike Spata, Brian Freeman, Stepan Stepanyan
    • Charge/Schedule (Elton/Eugene)
    • Materials: Accelerator Procedures (Mike); Plan for photon beam commissioning (Alexandre)
    • Talks: Overview/Goals/Charge (Eugene); Photon beam properties (Richard); Electron beam commissioning (Michael); Photon beam commissioning (Alexandre)
  6. Other business
    • Next meeting: Wed Jul 23 4 pm.
