Action Items

  • Send Todd a geometry of tagger area, including the mapped tagger magnet field, for GEANT simulations (Richard). Sasha defined geometry, Richard will add field map
  • Estimate rates and ranges of parameters needed for the photon beam tuning (Todd for accelerator; Elton, Hovanes, Alexandre for Hall D)

Agenda

  1. Announcements
  2. Electron Commissioning (Todd/Mike)
  3. Photon Commissioning Draft (Alexandre)
  4. Radiation monitors
  5. Aug 8 Review:
  6. Other business

Minutes

Attending: Elton, Alexandre, Hovanes, Eugene, Sasha (Hall D), Mike (Ops); Curtis (CMU); Richard (UConn)

  1. Action Items
    • Sasha has updated geometry in tagger area. Richard will add the magnetic field produced by Dan. If time is short, the TOSCA map can be used.
  2. Electron Commissioning (Mike)
    • The Hall D Beam Delivery Procedure is heading toward Rev. 10 with the feedback which was received.
    • Ion Chamber Procedures are currently under review for release and use.
    • Eugene/Curtis have been added as administrators for Hall D's Operational Restrictions[1]
    • System Experts have been requested to write test plans for hardware commissioning of the nA BPMs, FFB system, and the Active Collimator.
    • Is a Cross Calibration Procedure for absolute current measurement desired? (Between Faraday Cup 2 in the Injector and the Hall BCM)
      • Not needed at this time.
    • Need to identify the appropriate point of contact in Radcon to write the measurement test plan for fall (George K. or Pavel perhaps?)
      • Alexandre is in communication with Melvin Washington to coordinate plans for monitoring (see below)
    • Regarding minimum deliverable current (open question from last time):
Stripline BPM Resolutions ≥ 30nA 100um resolution < 30nA resolution suffers(position noisy barring additional filtering) 3nA yields expected resolution ≈ 300 µm
  1. Photon Commissioning Draft (Alexandre)
    1. Rates
      • Estimate of expected rates (Eugene will work on rates for the PS and the profile monitor)
      • Need to get range of motion specifications for all devices
    2. Procedures for checking individual detectors
      • Beam commissioning can assume beamline detectors are working, but entry should point to procedure for checking/commissioning each detector subsystem, e.g. 'expert procedures' in the documentation wiki
    3. Plan for commissioning
      • Centering on target: use start counter? profiler upstream of target?
      • Decided that we should plan to use the profiler at a) collimator b) upstream of target and c) upstream of beam dump. Hovanes/ Alexandre will coordinate with Tim to make appropriate stands.
      • (Hovanes) Current plan is to use a portable VME crate for the profile monitor. Access to LV near the dump is problematic and will have to be worked out.
  2. Radiation monitors
    • Alexandre has been working with RadCon to borrow detectors that can be used this fall in the tagger area and Hall D
    • 4 probes: 2 n and 1 g in tagger hall; 1 g in collimator cave
    • 40 personnel dosimeters (OSLs), most to be placed in the tagger hall, some in Hall D
  3. Aug 8 Review:
    • Photon Beam Commissioning Review Page
    • Review of information on Review page - Elton will update based on feedback
    • Material for the review due July 29 evening: draft of presentations and all pre-brief material
  4. Other business
    • Next meeting: Tuesday July 29, 4 pm
