Minutes
- Discussed minutes from last meeting
- Looked at positioning of components in Z. Stephanie has updated the model to the latest.
- Pavel looked at radiation after experiment and it is decided we can remove the poly shielding 1 week after the end of beam in order to move the assy closer to the north wall
- Discussed Magnet design
- High rad resistant resin (CTD403) has hazardous characteristics with cyanide. It may be better (and cheaper) to use a resin such as CTD101K which is much cheaper but still radiation hard (10^5 grey).
- Give Pavel the current magnet model to run in Fluka to determine the needed radiation levels
- Magnet positioned 2cm below beam center
- Discussed the portion of the CPS that will be moved north after experiment
- May be a good idea to move the magnet with the absorber/shielding assembly
- Supporting magnet from the absorber assy support may be useful
- Steel shielding over magnet may be attached (not required) and moved with magnet to keep radiation levels down
- Radiator design
- may be a long shaft to bring motor outside shielding
- may be a rack and pinion or worm gear type of set up
- thick target, thin target and empty space needed
- target will be in air
- Vacuum window downstream of diagnostic girder may be 100um aluminum (2.5 cm diameter)
- Vacuum window on US end of permanent magnet may be Kapton if needed
- Pavel requests a nitrogen purge in copper absorber area
- Copper absorber
- Hovanes shows 52.9KW absorbed from Pavel model 78
- Tim's ANSYS model shows 51.14KW. Maybe ok sine the 8 1/2" water holes are in the model
- Eugene was concerned with brazed joints for water cooling
- After More discussion after the meeting, we will prsue brazing 3/8 inch tube into the absorber
- Keith will work with JLAB vacuum brazing to come up with a prototype model to test
- Josh came up with a possible way to transfer models to Fluka from ANSYS. He will get a model to Pavel to see if this works
- The lead bricks are here from SLAC. A PR is written to get them painted
