Meeting time and location:

Agenda

  • Preparation of parts for ECAL -- Sasha
    • - signal cables - done
    • - signal patch panel [1] - done
    • - HV cables: received 1280 in total
    • - HV distribution boards: in preparation
    • - LV cables: 150 cables received
    • - LV distribution boards. Received 4 boards, performed initial cehck, need to solder connectors [2]
    • - Optical fibers and parts for the trigger/DAQ have been ordered
  • Ongoing projects -- Sasha, all
    • - Testing and labeling cables, 100 short LV cables tested and labeled during this week.
    • - Prepare modules for the TAC and prototypes (using crystals with some imperfections)
      • 26 modules for TAC [3] and 35 modules [4] for the beam tests are ready
    • - Preparation of the LMS
      • - Need to glue Al flange to the optical fiber
      • - Ready for installation [5]
    • - Radiation tests of the PMT active base [6]
      • Finished tests, working on the tech note
    • - Inventory database and GUI for installed electronics
    • - Summer Students (2023)
  • Testing of PMT dividers -- Sasha / Vlad / Aoran
    • - Testing procedure [7]
    • - Tested 637 divider (all fabricated dividers) [8]. No dividers produced during this week.
    • - Spare PMTs, have about 20, likely need more for the future (order 30 more )?
  • Installation of the FCAL2 detector & integration to GlueX -- Sasha / Vlad / Hakob
    • Detector installation [9][10][11]
    • Installation of the LMS
      • 143 fibers installed during this week (some delays with trainings and safety docs) [12] [13]
      • Had to obtain trainings for operating scissor lift (operation without training violates safety rules) (revealed some issues with the lift when inspected by Joe Thomas)
    • Cable and divider installation [14]
      • Bundled and installed signal, HV, and LV cables on the first layer [15][16][17]
    • Still no power on the ECAL platform (expect delay with the development of the trigger/DAQ)
    • Detector installation page
  • Simulations -- Simon / Stjepan
    • pi0gg channel simulations and analysis done with genEtaRegge and analyzed with FSRoot for the JEF FCAL2 geometry [18]

Minutes

Attendees: Igal, Sasha, Zisis, Jon, Stjepan, Liping, Olga, Phil, Malte, Jane, S.T.

  • LV cables are coming in (100 last week)
    • tested and bundled together
  • LV distribution boards on hold while Chris S. works on PMT dividers (~100 fabricated last week)
    • Detector support group to take over testing dividers
  • Installation of LMS for ECAL continues, now 187 optical fibers glued to ECAL face and bundled into groups of 40 for distribution to integrating sphere
    • Gluing rate ~25/hour
  • Added Kapton tape on inner part of lead glass blocks near insert and started to attach dividers to PMTs
  • Plan for how to lay cables in cable trays in place
  • Igal advertised new ML project for e/pi separation, possible Lamar student?
  • Stjepan presented studies of η→π0γγ using evtgen to generate background channels from η itself
    • Also looked at η→π+π-e+e- and η→π+π-π0γ
    • Used reaction filter + FSRoot
