Agenda

  • Preparation of parts for ECAL -- Sasha
    • - signal cables - done
    • - signal patch panel [1] - done
    • - HV short cables: received, checked, labeled (last week)
    • - HV long cable, 18 ready (out of 36)
    • - HV distribution boards: in preparation
    • - LV cables: 100 cables received, 640 cables in total
    • - LV distribution boards [2]. Have to populate with connectors, and design a box around the PCB
  • Ongoing projects -- Sasha / Vlad / Hakob / Laveen
    • - Tested and labeled all HV cables ! and about 100 LV cables [3]
    • - Bundling short cables (groups of 7, 7, and 6 cables)
      • finished: LV - 13 layers, HV - 18 layers, signal - 9 layers (40 in total out of 120) [4][5]
  • Testing of PMT dividers -- Sasha / Vlad / George
    • - Testing procedure [6]
    • - About 1420 dividers have been fabricated (Chris, Armen, Mindy)
    • - Started removing power regulators on the newly fabricated dividers
    • - George has recently tested 142 dividers (1063 have been tested in total) [7].
    • - Adding ECAL (and updating FCAL) translation table in the TT.DB (needed for EPICS scalers)
  • Installation of the FCAL2 detector & integration to GlueX -- Sasha / Vlad / Hakob / Laveen
    • Preparing safety documents. The following ePASes have been submitted and approved -- Sasha and Vlad
      • Installation of the ECAL LMS
      • Installation of cables and dividers,
      • Beam tests with the PS test setup
      • Preparing ECAL cables (EEL126)
      • Fabrication of calorimeter prototypes (EEL126)
      • Testing ECAL dividers (EEL118) (approved in January)
    • Installation of the LMS
      • 1132 fibers have been installed [8]
    • Cable and divider installation [9][10][11]
    • Power installation on the platform has been completed [12]
    • Detector installation page
    • Other hardware projects
      • --prototype of the ECAL veto counter
      • --study shower profile using PS (also transition region between lead tungstate and LG modules (?) )
  • Analysis/Simulation
    • Generated bggen eta->pi0gg events with JEF geometry for background studies [16] -- Stjepan

Minutes

Attendees: Bill, Liping, Stjepan, Vlad, Sasha, Axel, Laveen, Olga, Igal, Jane, S.T.

  • Beam test in Hall-D events on 3/15/24, radiation survey of beam line in FCAL showed no activation problem
  • Cabling continued in EEL
    • 100 more LV cables arrived, now have 640
    • Laveen worked on bundling and labeling cables
  • PMT divider fabrication continues, now have 1420
    • George from detector support group continues testing them, now have 1063 tested dividers
    • Some dividers (~5) needed to be repaired
    • Some dividers produced lower amplitied (~20% level, maybe natural spread?)
  • LMS installation was on hold during beam test, but have installed 1132 fibers as of meeting
    • Will resume in April
  • Discussed asking for money to build TOF veto counter for inner region not covered by existing TOF scintillators
    • Narrow scintillator bars with wavelength shifting fibers + SiPM readout ?
    • Use discriminators + TDCs instead of flashADCs to cut down cost of electronics
  • Discussed idea to measure shower profile in transition region between lead tunstate and lead glass blocks
    • Pair spectrometer setup in hall
    • Have 5x5 ECAL-style modules + many FCAL lead glass blocks
      • Need to consider how to power Cockroft-Walton bases for lead glass modules
  • Plan to build 5x5 TAC using COMCAL-style housing + electronics
  • Plan to refurbish old fiber-based profiler?
  • Summer students: expect 1 from GW, 2 from UNCW
  • Stjepan gave an update on studies of backgrounds in the π0γγ channel using bggen
    • Used default analysis library/DReactionFilter cuts but added cut on χ^2/ndf from kinematic fit
    • Igal suggested not to use default cuts but develop own, studying one-by-one with figure-of-merit
