Agenda

  • Preparation of parts for ECAL -- Sasha
    • - signal cables: all cables are ready. Received 100 long cables. They have been tested, labeled and bundled (will be used to replace FCAL cables removed from the FCAL). Need to redo 10 bundles.
    • - signal patch panels are ready [1]
    • - HV cables: have received 50 short cables, have been testes and labeled. 440 cables are ready for installation. 36 long cables are in production
    • - HV distribution boards: Chris is finalizing design of the distribution board, should order 4 boards soon.
    • - LV cables: ordered, lead time unclear
    • - LV distribution boards. The design of the LV distribution board has been finalized (discussion with Fernando, the power regulators will not be added to the design)
    • - Optical fibers: received all
  • Ongoing projects -- Sasha, all
    • - Testing and labeling cables (Recently labeled cables in boxes)[2]
    • - Prepare modules for the TAC and prototypes (using crystals with some imperfections) [3]
    • - All optical fibers are ready for installation. 3-D printed a mounting plate to couple fibers with the integrating sphere [5] (Boby); the plate was also machined; 3-D printing a fiber tray (will be attached to the plate)
    • - Installation of the trigger and readout electronics
      • - 7 VXS crate, 3 HV crates, and 1 LV (Wiener) crate have been installed. Power lines will be installed in a week.
      • - Installed flash ADC, SDs, TIs. Uploaded new firmware [6]
      • - All readout controllers have been installed [7]
      • - Irradiation tests of the PMT active base
    • - Summer Students (2023)
  • Testing of PMT dividers -- Sasha / Vlad / Aoran / Boaxin
    • - Testing procedure [8]
    • - Tested 255 dividers [9]
  • Installation of the FCAL2 detector & integration to GlueX -- Sasha / Vlad / Hakob
  • Light monitoring system
    • All optical fibers are ready for installation, the mounting plate to the integrating sphere is under production, will be ready soon.
  • Analysis/Simulation

Minutes

Attendees: Bill, Sasha, Phil, Stjepan, Jon, Zisis, Axel, Olga, Jane, S.T.

  • 100 long cables arrived, made 5 bundles, need to redo 10 bundles from FCAL
  • Received and checked 50 short HV cables
  • 400 cables ready for installation, Chris and Dave working on long cables
  • Finalizing LV distribution board design
  • Studying potential radiation damage of power regulator chip on PMT divider based on NPS experience
    • Known failure at 10 krad, but hall D lower radiation environment (expect 5 krad/year near beam line)
    • Do we need power regulator? MPODs stable by themselves
      • Regulate on LV distribution board? No: decided to proceed with current LV board design
      • Remove/bypass chip for inner FCAL-2 rings to be safe?
  • Plate with many holes for fibers as interface to integrating sphere for LMS ready to go, need to insert, glue and diamond mill fibers
    • Added collar and clamp for stress relief
  • Parts for small 3x3/5x5 module arrays ready to go
  • Testing of PMT dividers continues
  • Installation of electronics in racks in Hall continues
  • Plexiglas for lead glass block LMS system delayed, will install fibers for insert LMS after installing LG plexiglas
  • Installation of cables for lead glass continues, dark box needs to be restored
  • Some discussion of what can be done during short (~4 days) run period in March. Answer: for FCAL-2 itself not much considering expected state of readiness, but perhaps can use PS test setup
  • Some discussion of summer students for next year (both Phil and Axel can provide students)
    • Checking modules? Calibrations?
  • Zisis' student Stjepan to start working on MC studies of other channels besides η→π0γγ we could pursue for the JEF program
