Goals for Calorimetry Group

  1. Determine preliminary photon reconstruction efficiencies as a function of E, phi and theta in data and simulation with a point-to-point precision of at least 5%.
  2. Measure systematics of pi0/eta mass calibration as a function of detector position to a precision of at least 5 MeV.
  3. Demonstrate agreement of photon resolution between data and simulation as a function of E, phi and theta to within 5%.
  4. Demonstrate agreement of photon reconstruction efficiency between data and simulation as a function of E, phi and theta to within 5%.

Minutes

Attendees: Mark, Sean, Igal, Malte, Matt, Ilya, Zisis

  1. Announcements: the JLab Open House is being help this Saturday.
  2. Past Meeting Minutes: reviewed briefly, see next item.
  3. Review Action Items: these were reviewed in detail and subsequently pruned:
    • Short term: A past item connected to the fiducial hole around the beam line for the FCAL was discussed. In brief, the Compton and eta analysis mask the first two rings, and this should be adopted as standard in GlueX.
    • Long Term: 1) covariance matrices for photons: no big need for this right now, unless particular analyses demand it in the future; leave on list as a reminder. 2) BCAL hot channels. Mark reported that this is likely due to a DAC chip failure, which may result us in being more aggressive with tuning the baseline for the BCAL. Leave both items on.
    • Work Packages: items 4, 8 and 9 have been completed and moved to the "Completed" table. A Regina undergraduate summer student is working with Karthik on item 6 (BCAL photon efficiency). Zisis will touch base with FIU on items 10 and 11.
  4. Detectors
    1. FCAL/ECAL: Malte reported that LV strands are being powered up with a few (~80) communications issues to be resolved, and will be looked at next week. Hakob, Vlad and Sasha are continuing to install ECAL dividers.
    2. BCAL: no report.
  5. Calibration: Igal reported tat BCAL for PrimEx calibration will be finished in 1-2 weeks. It was decided that the FCAL should be recalibrated for the 2017 beam period.
  6. Monitoring: no report.
  7. Reconstruction: no report.
  8. Simulations: Sean mentioned that Jon Zarling is getting results from simulations for the eta cross sections, and the agreement between 2pi0 and pi+pi-pi0 look quite good now.
  9. Any other business: follow up on the FCAL inner ring masking: possibly have that as a analysis level option to turn on or off.
