Minutes

Attendees: Matt, Mark, Tolga, Madelyn, Karthik, Varun, Stjepan, Jon, Malte, Zisis

  1. Announcements:
    1. The CPP run has ended and PrimEx will start next. There is an opportunity to take SiPM LED data for the continued BCAL radiation damage assessment. Varun will email Sergei to get DAQ access, Mark will help with the chiller settings. Varun will join the RC meetings to plan this.
    2. No CALWG report is expected at the Sept Collaboration Meeting, except for JEF/FCAL-II reporting.
  2. Past Meeting Minutes: no business arising.
  3. Review Action Items: Mark and Zisis will prune these offline.
  4. Run Operations
    1. FCAL: routine running, very few bases swapped out. HV discussion needs Igal, so maybe for PrimEx this will gain traction.
    2. BCAL: no LED pushing issues since Mark increased the delay between EPICs calls to 100 μs. The hypothesis is that that ROC could not handle the more frequent calls, and would drop the odd one.
    3. CCAL
  5. Calibration
    1. Madelyn presented her work on 5 CCDB BCAL constants and their stability (ADC gains, Effective Velocities, Attenuation Parameter, Tdiff and z-point/track). No surprises in any of the Run Period trends. The full report will be uploaded to DocDB by the end of the week. Folks were asked if there was an interest to look at any additional constants.
  6. Monitoring
    1. BCAL LED
      1. Varun's gave a LED monitoring update on CPP runs (Varun). 3 SiPMs are problematic, with 1118 having been 'sick' since 2017. LED channels fluctuate. No huge changes.
    2. BCAL (offline)
      1. Tolga gave a quick Update on HadEff monitoring work on which Elton is collaborating, using charged tracks. L1 shows low efficiency at channel 30, which is not seen in the other layers. the Z distributions in L1 show the effect of FDC-off around 300-350. Slide 7 shows a L1 hole that developed between runs 81505 and 81514. MT target runs are being looked at as well.
    3. FCAL (offline): no report.
    4. CCAL (offline): no report.
  7. Reconstruction: Karthik reported that he and Joon a resurrecting the omega-pi0 tag-and-probe method for the BCAL, following Jon's work on the FCAL. The neutral b1 is being used, to omega-pi0. Combinatoric background is being investigated. Matt added that he discussed the efficiency of the BCAL for low photon energies with Peter Pauli, as there are mysteries in his and Nilanga's analyses (Sigma and Lambda). The rho-Delta+ could be looked at, which is a rearrangement of particles compared to omega-pi0. This will be discussed offline, to see if it is feasible and if manpower exists.
  8. Simulations: Kevin is working on smearing quantities and will give an update in a subsequent CALWG meeting.
  9. Any other business: Matt brought up the issue of the 'lead' for the FCAL disassembly and restacking. Many things need to be taken care of: PMT and base selection, cables, slow controls, rebundling, etc. A senior scientist (postdoc and above) is needed. Meetings with Tim Whitlatch have commenced. Zisis will bring this up to the JEF group on Friday.
