Goals for Calorimetry Group

  1. Determine preliminary photon reconstruction efficiencies as a function of E, phi and theta in data and simulation with a point-to-point precision of at least 5%.
  2. Measure systematics of pi0/eta mass calibration as a function of detector position to a precision of at least 5 MeV.
  3. Demonstrate agreement of photon resolution between data and simulation as a function of E, phi and theta to within 5%.
  4. Demonstrate agreement of photon reconstruction efficiency between data and simulation as a function of E, phi and theta to within 5%.

Minutes

Attendees: Igal, Sean, Jon, Malte, Eugene, Sasha, Zisis

  1. Announcements: Zisis announced that the baby BCAL is now at ANL, on load from JLab for a period of a year.
  2. Past Meeting Minutes: nothing to review.
  3. Review Action Items: will review these at our next meeting. Igal noted that Ilya is at JLab now and will likely work on uploading the constants in the next week or so.
  4. Detectors
    1. FCAL/ECAL: Malte reported that FCAL2 lead glass has all HV and signal cables installed. All 4 plexiglas panels are installed, two have the LEDs on them. The critical one was bottom left (as seen by the beam) as this needed to be completed for the ECAL LMS fibers to go on.
    2. BCAL: Zisis reported that Regina will aim to complete the BCAL SiPM dark rate study during the summer.
  5. Calibration
    1. 2022-08 BCAL done & FCAL done Igal briefly summarized these calibrations and asked for Regina experts to check to see if any additional comparisons or plugins are required to be run, for quality assurance.
    2. 2023-01 BCAL done & FCAL timing & gains done The energy non-linear is left to be done for PrimEx. Igal asked which of the two methods should be used? Sean replied that ideally one should be used. Igal will have a switch to toggle between the two.
  6. Monitoring
  7. Reconstruction:
    1. Igal asked about the island vs conventional algorithm. Sean noted that Simon is still optimizing the parameters of the former, and Zisis will follow up on that.
    2. Zisis mentioned that Karthik is working on the omega-pi photon efficiency, which looks promising. He intends to present results at the next CALWG.
  8. Simulations: no report.
  9. Any other business:
    1. We will move back to a biweekly meeting format for CALWG.
    2. Sasha asked if Stjepan (who is at JLab Jan 16-Feb7) has time to help with FCAL2 hardware. Zisis said yes, but the primary objective for this trip is event generators and simulations for JEF, where Stjepan will be working with Simon and Will Imoehl.
